This place was just what we needed to unwind for a few days while visiting Michigan. Our little spot down by the river was quiet and peaceful, and we enjoyed watching the kayaks and canoes paddling by. Will definitely consider this place again if we ever end up back in the area. Thanks to the friendly staff for a wonderful stay!

TLDR; if you want rustic and peaceful nature, this isn’t it, and if you want nice amenities and convenience, this isn’t it either. This campground is kind of the worst of both worlds. Super small sites. We were right on top of everyone else and had no sense of privacy or “nature”—another review said it feels like a parking lot, and I totally agree. Our site was completely dirt and roots, virtually no grass, and it overlooked a trash-island in the river full of scummy littered beer cans. The fire rings do not have grates of any kind so you can’t cook over it unless you bring your own or purchase one from the camp store, and the water stations are few and far between. The playground is old and dangerous, the bathrooms were NOT clean, and the outhouses were straight-up repulsive. The mini golf is uhhh quaint and honestly should be free to play considering that the course itself is very DIY and the putters were just a random jumble of thrift store golf clubs. There is a handful of appropriative “Indian” stuff all around, but the cut-out-face photo opportunity is unabashedly racist. My kids enjoyed the indoor pool so I guess that’s something? And all the staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful (I don’t think I encountered the infamous owner). The campground was absolutely packed but it did get quiet by 10pm.

My children and I have stayed here for an extended period of time and it's wonderful. I love everything about it, there is a lot of nature and trees and seclusion and yet a lot of community, activity, and events. The staff is friendly helpful and personable. There is a beach at a beautiful pond with a fountain and the river along the backside with a nice playground for children that is fun for all ages. Lots of fishing, canoeing and kayaking. There is laundry on site and it's less expensive than a laundromat. Highly recommended

I had an amazing time traveling with my entire family on my dad's side, we went kayaking and tubing down the river and it was amazing we saw so many little fish and turtles which the other little kids loved! We also went to the pool and mini golfing, the mini golfing was great but it was SO hot because we did it mid day. After that we went right into the pool which was amazingly tempted. It was like bathwater but a bit colder, I recommend being careful of not scratching or scraping your skin on the bottom of the pool because of the texture. Again be careful especially on the stairs with little ones. Overall I think that this campground was amazing and the staff are so kind and funny to chat with, along with you many neighbors while camping are quiet and nice. 4 stars❤️

The front desk ladies were very nice and informative about the area and activities. Downfall is tight spaces, we kept having to move vehicles so other campers could park their campers which was fine but also kinda a pain especially if we weren't there and had our vehicles hit. I figure the sites near us were tent only due to the tight quarters.. Also no spot to turn around if launching a boat you'd have to back up down a path of 25yrds or so and no parking for a trailer unless at your campsite. View was beautiful and was peaceful for the most part. Bathrooms were very clean and showers were nice and warm. Huge playground for the kiddos which was awesome and a small pond near by to look at critters. They also have a indoor pool but didn't make it to it looked nice! Tubing down the river isn't ideal I'd say due to the lack of current. Had a lot of people say they kept having to get off and walk the river or kept getting stuck in spots. Not from shallow water but just lack of current flow. I'd rate a 8.7/10 definitely a cool campground to stay at and make some memories!

Nice, quiet campground. Was there on a Thursday night in April. My site was roomy, the bathroom and shower rooms were clean. Was going to visit Ford Museum in Grand Rapids. All in all, great experience.

The family that runs this are nasty people. The man that works there took every single opportunity he could to be rude not only to me but every single interaction I saw with other people as well. I will always regret not just leaving as soon as it was an issue, we will never come back here. We also paid extra for a waterfront site and they allowed one of their friends to come over and take over our site, while we were sitting there. The woman came up and said it was no problem that their friend was in our site. I wouldn’t have had such a problem with her being so close but she had a small dog that kept trying to bite my kids anytime we came anywhere near her and it was difficult to avoid her since she sat her chair maybe 2 feet from where my kids were playing. It also was not a situation where it was open or near a public area, our site was kind of fenced off in areas and it was very clearly marked. We’ve lived full time for 3 years traveling the country and never seen a campground run by a family like this.

Only used the kayak exit point. The campground seemed to go along forever along the river, with some beautiful (likely many seasonal) sites. Fair price to use their site to exit the river ($7/canoe, $3.50/ kayak). Porta potty when you get out was super grody though. Would highly recommend the trip from Middleville launch to their campsite along the Thornapple River. We took our time, made a swim stop or two, and it probably took us about 3 hours.

Best campground in the Middleville area. So much to do here. Bathrooms are clean. the campground staff is friendly, and so many people to talk to. Also they have fun events that happen on Saturdays. Would highly recommend. It is also close to Caledonia making it easy to get supplies.

We are pretty avid campers, so we’ve been to a lot of campgrounds around Michigan. Compared to others around the state, this was pretty lackluster. Their kayak rentals are fantastic though!! The gentleman who run that portion are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Camping portion, not so much. The main office lady really hates her job and it shows. Sort of kills the vibe for all the new campers coming in. It was different than any campground we’ve been to. They do have a playground but it’s quite outdated. Just teens hanging out mostly. “Beach” is about a 20x5 foot section of sand at the pond. Pool and shower options, but they are moldy and kind of gross. They have paved portions in each lot, which we found really nice. Fire pits are tiny, so plan on cutting your wood shorter than normal. All around, it wasn’t a nightmare but just disappointing. This might be a good option for an older couple who doesn’t want to use any amenities, it was nice and quiet. But I wouldn’t recommend if you have children or like to explore around.

Stayed over the weekend. Super clean camp ground. Bathrooms, and showers were great. Camped by the pond with a colored light fountain. Definitely planning on coming back next year.

Heated indoor pool was nice. Showers and bathrooms were clean and tidy. Kids loved the playground and riding their bikes. Sites were a bit tight getting in and out of but we managed without incident. There was lots to do for the whole family, more than we could fit into one weekend. We hope to revisit again soon. Rates were not bad at all. We even managed to get 2 sites next to each other with just a few weeks notice. Owner patrols the grouds very regularly and gates are closed at night.

Nice place for the family to camp, canoe, kayak, tube and swim. Plenty of stuff for the family to do on a weekend or week(s) stay. Nice indoor pool along with a clean pond and the river. Has a boat launch for people that are staying to use. Large play set area and volleyball court.

Lots to do here. There is a 9 hole mini golf, tubing, canoeing, pond and pool for swimming. Nice playground area for the kids. Bathrooms and showers were kept pretty clean. Lots of sites available, some right on the river. They also had a couple events one night with a DJ and a wagon ride. Only suggestion is to add a light by the port-o-potty for the middle of the night

This is a great campground for everyone. Next to the Thorn Apple River. Campsites were clean, restrooms were clean and staff was extremely friendly. Last minute reservations were handled graciously and easily by their front office staff. We will be back to this campground. Very nice setting secluded in the woods. Not a lot of sun which is extremely nice. Lots of shaded areas to enjoy. Took 3 dogs and all were welcomed by everyone. everyone we spoke to in the campground was down to earth and just there to relax. If you want a campground that you can actually go to and relax, this is it. We will be back. affordable and clean. Cabin 3 was next to the restrooms. Sleeps 5 comfortably. Cabins have a microwave, refrigerator, table and chairs and A/C. Lots of outlets to plug in phones. Take an electric skillet and you can easily cook meals. Lots of mosquitos' due to the wetlands surrounding the area. take bug spray. The luxuries of camping. Thank you Indian Valley. We loved our stay and will be back.
