Came here for the fall colors and the trail did not disappoint. I would recommend hike up about 2 miles. The parking situation was terrible, good thing I came in a bike.

We backpacked for ~10 days in the John Muir Wilderness for wildlife surveys. Was a really special place to explore. Thank you to the amazing trail, the beautiful forest, the lakes and streams. We hope to be back, and spend more time adventuring in such a magical place.

Beautiful place to hike or trout fishing. High country views at the tree line. Be prepared for weather changes due to the altitude. Take your family and friends with the dogs….

One of my all time favorite hikes in mammoth lakes ca, good in fall and summer. It’s stunning and magical.

McGee Creek Trail, Mono County We were already greeted with beautiful fall foliage along the creek next to the parking lot. However, this was a beautiful hike at every turn hiking next to the creek with a couple wet river crossings, a view of a waterfall in the distance, and I heard there is a beautiful meadow with some cascades after a few miles. Pro Tip: Parking does fill up by 9am(?) on the weekend but if you go around 1130/12pm some spots may open up from hikers coming back. The trail splits for a short period of time and rejoins. Take the trail on the left for more of the fall foliage and creek view. Note: Another hiker told me this hike is now closed for the season so check before going. Very nice hike. The creek was really flowing and there were a lot of nice blooms.

This is just south of the Mammoth Lakes turnoff on 395. We always go in late October to see the incredible fall colors. This is a gateway to the Hoover wilderness also. All of the canyons like this one along 395 have great fall colors and wilderness access with views of the huge mountains of the Eastern Sierra. Closed in winter, but well worth seeing the rest of the year.

Great Great place for fall hiking! The last couple miles is rough road. But totally worth it! Parking lot filled up quick so go early!
