Overview
Irons RV Park and Campground offers a peaceful retreat tucked away in the heart of the Manistee National Forest. Known for its quiet, wooded setting, this park provides a true northern Michigan camping experience where the focus is on reconnecting with nature. Whether you are arriving in a large motorhome or a compact travel trailer, the park balances rustic charm with the essential comforts needed for a relaxing stay. It serves as an ideal basecamp for those who want to explore the rugged beauty of Lake County while enjoying a friendly, community atmosphere.
Location & Surroundings
The park is situated in the small community of Irons, Michigan, a region defined by its dense forests and abundant waterways. Surrounded by the Manistee National Forest, the location offers immediate access to thousands of acres of public land. The area is famous for its proximity to the Little Manistee River and several pristine inland lakes. This positioning makes the campground a prime spot for travelers who appreciate being away from the hustle of major cities, favoring instead the secluded natural landscape and local wildlife sightings.
Amenities & Park Features
While the setting is natural, the facilities are designed for modern convenience. The park features spacious sites with full hookups supporting both 30 and 50-amp electrical service. Travelers can find level sites that accommodate larger rigs with ease, including convenient pull-through options. On-site amenities include clean restrooms, hot showers, and a laundry facility for those on extended road trips. For recreation within the grounds, there is a catch-and-release fishing pond and a playground, ensuring that every member of the family has something to enjoy during their downtime.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw for many visitors is the direct access to ORV and snowmobile trails, which spiderweb across the surrounding landscape. Anglers frequent the area for the world-class trout and salmon fishing found in the nearby Pine and Big Manistee Rivers. Hiking and mountain biking enthusiasts will find endless terrain to explore within the national forest. Additionally, the park is a short drive from Big Bass Lake, providing opportunities for boating and swimming during the warmer summer months.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is a perfect match for outdoor enthusiasts and trail riders who need a comfortable place to park their rigs between adventures. It appeals strongly to those seeking a quiet, family-friendly atmosphere rather than a high-traffic resort environment. Because of its location near major trailheads and rivers, it is particularly well-suited for fishermen and OHV riders looking for a reliable, well-maintained home base in Northern Michigan. If you value forest views and easy access to the Great Outdoors, this park fits your travel style.
