Island View RV Park

Overview

Island View RV Park offers a peaceful retreat overlooking the expansive waters of Lake Pend Oreille. Located in the charming community of Hope, Idaho, this park is known for its terraced layout, which ensures that most visitors enjoy a scenic vista of the lake and the surrounding mountains. It serves as a quiet basecamp for those looking to explore the rugged beauty of the Idaho Panhandle while maintaining access to modern conveniences and a relaxed atmosphere.

Location & Surroundings

The park is situated along the Pend Oreille Scenic Byway, providing easy access to some of the most stunning landscapes in the Pacific Northwest. Perched on a hillside, the location offers a unique perspective of the islands dotting the lake. The surroundings are characterized by dense evergreen forests and the clear, deep waters of the lake, making it a prime spot for nature photography and birdwatching throughout the warmer months.

Amenities & Park Features

While the atmosphere is relaxed and rustic, the park provides essential utilities for a comfortable stay. Guests can find full hookups including water, sewer, and both 30 and 50-amp electrical service. The gravel sites are designed to accommodate various rig sizes, and the property includes clean restroom and shower facilities for guest use. The focus here is on simplicity and the natural environment, allowing the lake views to take center stage rather than resort-style distractions.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Just a short drive away, visitors can explore the Sam Owen Campground and its public beach, or head into Sandpoint for local shopping and dining. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to the David Thompson Game Preserve for wildlife viewing. Fishing and boating are the primary draws, with several local marinas offering boat launches. For hikers, the nearby Cabinet Mountains offer trails ranging from leisurely walks to challenging climbs with panoramic views.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for travelers who prioritize tranquility and scenery over organized activities or swimming pools. It is a perfect match for couples or solo travelers seeking a quiet spot to watch the sunset over the water. Because of its location near the scenic byway, it also serves as an excellent stop for road trippers exploring Northern Idaho who want a reliable, high-view spot to park their rig for a few days.

The owners here were so delightful! They welcomed us with a warm smile and handshake, introducing themselves and guiding us to our site. They had activities for the 4th of July and made sure we knew where to go for the fire works. Any questions we had they graciously helped us with and our site was spacious and shaded. They had 1 washer and 2 driers, but the price was more affordable than I've had at any other rv park (and we have been to hundreds as we've traveled fulltime in our rv for the last 3.5 years) The perfect place to celebrate the 4th! Thank you so much!

What a wonderful hidden gem on the lake. Small, quiet park. Sites are a little rough as they are all grass and dirt but I love that they're in the trees. Lots of full timers here but everyone is very nice. We have really enjoyed our stay here. The owners are super nice and helpful.

We have stayed several times, and always had a fantastic stay with great weather, water, and the people that are so friendly. The owners Steve and Misha always go out of their way to make you feel at home. We are looking forward to our 2019 visit.

We did enjoy our time there however, the camp showers were not in operation and we had a little trouble finding where the dog area was. We think we found it, but it was a little over grown. The good news is we weren’t far from a forest service campground that has a dog beach! Really enjoyed our trip there and the people we met. Campground hosts were excellent and helped with my minor water issue with my rv. I would go back again.
