Ivanhoe Lake
Overview
Ivanhoe Lake Provincial Park offers a serene escape into the heart of Northern Ontario. This park is characterized by its sprawling boreal forest and a lake formed by ancient glaciers. Visitors often remark on the crystal-clear water and the gentle, sandy shoreline that makes it a standout destination for those traveling through the rugged wilderness of the north. It provides a perfect blend of natural beauty and essential comforts for the modern traveler.
Location & Surroundings
Situated just west of Foleyet, Ontario, along Highway 101, the park provides a remote atmosphere that feels worlds away from the city. The surrounding landscape is a lush tapestry of jack pine and birch trees, offering a peaceful backdrop for your RV stay. It serves as a vital gateway for exploring the vast, uncrowded regions of the Sudbury District, where the wild terrain remains largely untouched.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is well-equipped for RV travelers, offering a variety of electric campsites that can accommodate different rig sizes and setups. Essential facilities include modern comfort stations equipped with flushing toilets and hot showers, as well as a dedicated trailer sanitation station and water filling points. The shallow waters of the lake stay remarkably warm during the summer months, providing an inviting environment for swimming right off the sandy banks.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do, from paddling across the calm lake to exploring the Saw Lake Trail. This trail leads hikers through diverse forest terrain to a secluded inland lake, offering excellent birdwatching opportunities. For those who enjoy angling, the park is famous for its walleye and northern pike fishing, making it a premier spot for putting a boat in the water or fishing from the shore.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for families who appreciate the shallow, sandy beaches where children can safely play in the water. It is also a perfect match for RVers seeking a quiet, rustic retreat rather than a high-traffic commercial resort. If you enjoy wildlife viewing and the peaceful sound of loons at dusk, this northern gem will suit your travel style perfectly as you explore the Ontario wilderness.

More like a trailer park then a provincial park. We stayed here for a night. Worst camping expirence we've ever had. If you are a tent camper that enjoys nature and peace and quite DONT STAY IN THE LA BAIE CAMPGROUND!!!! It was all trailers and there were so many generators running and some even all night. The campsite was beautiful right on the water and we did the saw lake hike. The area is beautiful but the people are so rude. The provincial parks should not let there parks be over run by rude trailer campers.

Had a fantastic stay at our campsite. Darell and his team were simply amazing. Thank you for a wonderful stay! I also can't believe that the person below me only gave a 5 star review becuase "the bugs were bad". It's Northern Ontario, deal with it.

The park itself is nice, beaches are great. I only gave 3 stars because the bugs were so HORRID! Couldn’t be out of the tent for more than 5 minutes without bleeding behind the ears from black fly bites. They have an off leash dog beach with toys, which is great however it is right against the road which was not ideal. The tenting spots are not labelled very well, took us half hour to locate our site, the signage is very poor for this particular stretch. Bathroom was clean and well maintained.

This place is definitely a hidden gem. The dog park is definitely a 20 out of 10. Best I have ever seen. What all dog beaches should strive to be. The park itself is great, super quiet, and peaceful . Site #2 was a huge double site. Everyone who works there should be proud, and the place is super clean and friendly. Thanks for the memories.
