It is a prime choice for those seeking a quiet lakeside retreat with direct water access and a relaxed atmosphere.
Location & Surroundings
The park is situated just outside the charming town of Clarksville, VA, which holds the distinction of being the state's only lakeside town. The geography is dominated by the sprawling 50,000-acre lake, providing a picturesque backdrop for every campsite. The surrounding area is largely undeveloped, preserving a sense of wilderness while remaining accessible. The park’s layout maximizes waterfront views, making it a scenic stop for anyone traversing the southern border of Virginia or traveling through the Roanoke River basin.

We went to the swimming area near here to float around. It’s a little small, but it’s fenced in so you can float without being worried! Pretty shallow as well. We had a wonderful time and would recommend! Wasn’t too busy either when we went.

This is a good launch place. It's just starting to get a little crowded.
