J Percy Priest Lake - COE/Seven Points Campground

Overview

Seven Points Campground is a premier Army Corps of Engineers (COE) destination situated on the scenic shores of J. Percy Priest Lake in Hermitage, Tennessee. Known for its meticulously maintained grounds and tranquil atmosphere, this park offers travelers a chance to reconnect with nature without sacrificing modern conveniences. The campground is strategically designed to provide spacious lakeside views while maintaining the integrity of the surrounding hardwood forest, making it a favorite for those seeking a peaceful retreat near the water.

Location & Surroundings

Located just 15 miles east of downtown Nashville, Seven Points Campground sits on a lush peninsula within the Hermitage community. The landscape is dominated by mature oak and hickory trees that provide generous shade across the rolling terrain. Despite its proximity to a major metropolitan hub, the park feels remarkably secluded. Visitors are treated to stunning sunsets over the 14,000-acre reservoir, where the sounds of the city are replaced by the gentle lapping of water and local birdlife.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features 59 well-spaced campsites, many of which are situated directly on the waterfront. Each site is equipped with 50-amp electrical service and water hookups, along with a fire ring and picnic table. While there are no sewer hookups at the individual sites, a convenient dump station is located near the entrance. The facility includes modern bathhouses with hot showers, a dedicated swimming beach, and a multi-lane boat ramp for easy lake access. Families also appreciate the on-site playground and heavy-duty picnic shelters.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Boating, fishing, and kayaking are the primary draws for guests staying at Seven Points. For those looking to explore off-site, The Hermitage, the historic home of President Andrew Jackson, is only a few miles away. The park serves as a perfect base camp for visiting Nashville’s world-famous music scene, including the Grand Ole Opry and the Broadway honky-tonks. Nature lovers can also explore the nearby Long Hunter State Park, which offers extensive hiking trails and additional bird-watching opportunities.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and families who want a traditional camping experience with high-quality facilities. Its large, level pads make it an excellent choice for big-rig RVers who find urban parks too cramped. Because of its quiet evenings and natural beauty, it is perfect for those who want to explore Music City during the day and return to a serene, wooded environment at night. It is a top pick for travelers who value privacy and scenic lakefront living.

Never got to see the campground. We drove an hour and a half to see the area to see if it was worth the drive. We stopped at the gate and was told we weren’t allowed to drive through just to look at the grounds. The weekends are the only time we have to check out new camping areas that we have to drive that far to see. We have driven campgrounds all over the world and never been told we couldn’t drive around and look. How rude! Needless to say the lady at the gate and her attitude made our decision that we will not bother even trying to camp there. If this winds up being an old deserted campground in the future, it won’t be a surprise.

Best RV campground I've stayed at so far. They keep the camping areas nice and clean. Camping spots are spaced out perfectly to where you don't feel like you are camping on top of each other. Bathrooms and showers are kept nice, clean and stocked with toilet paper each day. Only thing I wished is they had trash cans outside of the bath house. That way you can throw doggy poo bags away outside instead of having to carry it back to your camp spot.

Spacious shady sites. Some with incline/decline in driveway but the RV setup is level. A few buddy sites are available even on the lake side. Bathrooms are clean. Plenty of hot water and good pressure. Boat ramp inside the campground. Swimming beach too.

Do not choose site 59. The tree limbs are dead and falling on campers and vehicles leaving quite a bit of damage. Tree maintenance is overdue! And it’s apparently a trail for skunks. Also the pavement is quite slanted and you may need an extra step. The hookups are on the front side of your camper so bring extra hose!

The nicest hosts I have ever met. Polite, friendly and very helpful. Hookups at every site. Most, if not all, sites have a view of the lake. Discount for America the Beautiful pass. Clean bathrooms. I cannot say enough good about this campground! Make a reservation through recreation.gov
