J. Strom Thurmond Lake - COE/Hesters Ferry

J Strom Thurmond Lake, also known as Clarks Hill Lake, is a reservoir located along the Savannah River on the Georgia-South Carolina border. It was created in 1954 by the construction of the J. Strom Thurmond Dam by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The lake is named after the late U.S. Senator Strom Thurmond of South Carolina. The lake is a popular destination for fishing, boating, camping, and other outdoor activities. Coe Hesters Ferry is a boat ramp located on the lake near the town of Tignall, Georgia. The boat ramp provides access to the lake for recreational boaters and anglers.
