We come here often and stayed here after getting kicked off the blue ridge parkway due to hurricane Helene. We were one of six sites that were here for the storm. No one was injured but that beautiful park is a mess. Camp hosts Kevin and Amy lost their trailer when destroyed by a pine tree but thankfully they were in the other end. Very nice people and a pleasure to meet them. We've left 5 star ratings in the past but this time it's for the rangers, park service and volunteers that wasted no time checking on us and cutting us a pathway out, even before there was gas or a place to go to. These are pictures of the road in the first loop, the host's trailer and the boat ramp. I couldn't get through to the rest of the park. They've got a big job ahead of them but It was a five star park before the storm and it'll be a five star park when they're done.

We were very happy with the spacious campsite (Loop A #10 pull-through) right on the water. The lake was a bit low (pre Hurricane Helene).

Nice size site (7A) mostly level pad with a great view of the lake. Directly across from the bathhouse. The Bathhouse is old and outdated BUT everything was functional and cleaned. We regrettably only stayed two nights. Would have loved to stay longer.

This is a very nice place to camp. The staff Mr Bill and Christy are the best! Please don’t let them go anywhere. They are the best campground attendants that Petersburg has seen since Don and Margaret Ward. Bill and Christy are very friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and the rules. They go above and beyond to see that there gust have a positive and fun stay at Petersburg.

We enjoyed our short stay at this campground. The sites are large, the trees are tall, the sunsets are beautiful. Our site was right on the water, so peaceful and restful. The nights were quiet, the days were peaceful but for some boat noise in the distance. This was a great access point for the bike trails which we thoroughly enjoyed!

We had lot 36. Plenty of room for activities. Great for tents. Can't wait to come back.

Site 19. The site itself was gorgeous and huge. Plenty of privacy. But it is not big rig friendly. It does not show the half circle drive you have to navigate. We are not amateurs. We are seasoned full timers. Our toy hauler is 40 foot which was supposed to fit in the site. You can’t tell from the pics how steep the drive is but it’s steep. Pulling in while trying to avoid a tree - our rig went up on the side of the drive and literally almost flipped over. Worst experience ever. Virtually no cell service. Appling and the surrounding area is great. Please do your homework when it comes to these sites. Do not take the websites word that your rig will fit.

One of the most beautiful ACOE campgrounds I have ever stayed. Every site but 5 are directly on the water with amazing views. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful! The cleanest campground I have been to. Everyone works hard to care for the campground and the people staying here. Sites are spaced nicely with trees for privacy. Many sites are on the water and give you magnificent views. I was ready to go buy a kayak and spend time on this lake. Our site was in a cove and most days the water was like glass. Hosts and Ranger are friendly and very helpful. Excellent single track bicycle trails and hiking. A great place to visit!!
