Jackson Hill Park & Marina
Overview
Overview
Jackson Hill Park & Marina offers a serene escape on the pristine shores of the Sam Rayburn Reservoir, which is widely recognized as one of the most popular fishing lakes in Texas. Nestled within the tranquil Piney Woods, this destination is renowned for its quiet atmosphere and direct access to world-class recreational opportunities. It functions as a hybrid between a professional marina and a comfortable RV park, providing an authentic East Texas experience where the focus remains on the natural beauty of the forest and the water.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the quiet town of Broaddus, TX, the park is surrounded by the lush, verdant greenery characteristic of the Deep East Texas landscape. The location provides a profound sense of seclusion, allowing travelers to disconnect from the modern world while remaining easily accessible for those exploring the region. The proximity to the Angelina National Forest ensures that visitors are constantly enveloped by towering pines and diverse local wildlife, making it an ideal destination for those who appreciate a rustic, natural setting.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is thoughtfully equipped to accommodate various camping styles, offering spacious full-hookup RV sites that provide all the necessary utilities for a comfortable stay. As a full-service marina, the facility provides several key features for guests:
- Access to multiple boat launch ramps and covered slips for watercraft.
- Dedicated fish cleaning stations for successful anglers returning from the lake.
- Clean bathhouse facilities and a well-stocked park store for essential supplies.
These amenities ensure that your focus stays on the water while your basic logistical needs are met on-site.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw for many visitors is the championship bass fishing, as Lake Sam Rayburn regularly hosts major angling events throughout the year. Beyond the water, the surrounding area is a gateway to the vast trail systems within the national forests, perfect for afternoon hikes and nature photography. The region is also a premier location for bird watching, with many campers spotting bald eagles, ospreys, and other native species during their stay along the lakefront.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideally suited for dedicated anglers who require a functional home base near the most productive fishing spots on the reservoir. It is also a fantastic choice for nature lovers and families who prefer a peaceful lakeside retreat over a high-traffic commercial resort. If your travel style involves waking up to a sunrise over the water and spending your days immersed in the outdoors, Jackson Hill Park & Marina provides the specific environment and location to support those goals.

Nice people, enjoyed our time. Cabin was dirty when we arrived, lots of termites in the cabin. Other than that, it was good.

I love this place. The people are great. The boat ramp and parking is very good. They make an amazing breakfast sandwich - sausage, egg and cheese. The only thing we do not like is the water for the shower has a sulfur smell. This may be due to the low water of the lake. We will always use this place when fishing Sam Rayburn.

The stay we have was short, but great! This is the second time we have used the facility and has gotten better each time. The food, service and lodging allowed the family to fish and have fun. I will be staying again in the future!

The floors and beds appeared to be clean. The linens were fresh. The towels, soaps, and shampoo were great! There is parking for 1 boat and truck with an electrical outlet available for charging batteries. With the truck and boat this close to the cabin, my equipment and gear felt secure. Food and service at the marina restaurant was good the evening before the tournament. They have alcoholic beverages and they are generous with the serving sizes. There are a few reasons for the review being 2-Star. (Fisherman's Cabin 25) 1. Room standards and quality were suspect. There is relatively fresh paint on the majority of the walls, but I could see rotting around the bottom of the walls near the baseboards. 2. The water has a high sulfur content and so it smells terrible. Additionally, it's the only water available without purchase, so brushing teeth and morning coffee becomes a problem. I felt as though I should have been warned. 3. The ad for the room says it sleeps 4, but that is misleading. There is one bed and a fold out sofa in a space just big enough for them (you literally cannot open the entrance door and the bathroom door together). 4. The store is supposed to be open @ 0600. They did not open the door until closer to 0630. This matters to fishermen (like our group) that are there for a tournament. I noticed a sign that said, "Jackson Hill Marina is now for sale". My opinion (this is subjective), it is a bit overpriced. Looks like these folks tried to put lipstick on the Jackson Hill Marina pig, but the place is still in need of some serious investment cash. It is going to take a long-term committed buyer to get this place right.
