This place is an awesome spot. Every bit of this trip was perfect. From the views to the friendliness of the staff. 5 out of 5 stars. The road has a few potholes but just drive slow and you'll be ok. The only reason I knocked off a star has nothing to do with this awesome spot. Its the beach. There is oil everywhere. I didnt realize they are drilling from a leaking rig off the coast. My heart breaks for every life affected.

Beautiful park with amazing facilities, free fast WiFi, a general store, showers, and clean bathrooms. Definitely worth a drive to see! A brief warning, this area is difficult to get to and the road is windy so be sure to drive slow, safe, and have a full tank or gas. You will lose service on your way. Also the beach is windy by nature. Like, windy enough to blow sand all over anything you set down and blow away anything you use to prevent that from happening. We went in July and it was warm and sunny but the wind is brutal. The beach was not too crowded and it is dog friendly. Cute little enclave in the middle of nowhere with staff to let you in ($10) and a lifeguard on duty.

I have been here at least 10 times, and I absolutely love this beach and community! My family and I always enjoy camping at the top—the view is amazing, and it's always a little warmer up there. We’ve stayed through rain, wind, and sun, and we always have a great experience. A huge plus for my family is not having to worry about cooking breakfast, lunch, or dinner thanks to the camp store and restaurant. The food takes a little time, but all good food should!

We rent the cabins at Jalama several times a year. Its our favorite place to camp. Our kids ride bikes and find friends to hang out with. Beach walks, sunsets. Quiet hours are respected. New bathroom facilities have been finished complete with a dish washing station. There is WiFi available. Reception may come and go depending on your phone. Occasionally we do eat at the grill. My family loves the Jalama Burgers, I love the fish and chips!

A lovely campground and day access area right on the beach! Summer just began, but it was not crowded and had plenty of space on the beach to walk and soak up the sun. Plenty of restroom and shower facilities. Tons of happy dogs running around and families enjoying the day. It can get quite windy here so be prepared. There was plenty of parking and overall a great relaxing place to be!

Jalama Beach County Park is an absolutely stunning place to camp. The ocean views are amazing, and having direct access to the beach makes it feel like a true coastal escape. The campground itself is clean and well maintained, and you can tell they take pride in keeping the grounds nice. A few things to know before you go: there are no water hookups at the campsites. You’ll need to fill your RV fresh water tank manually using the water stations near the campsites or at the free metered potable water station at the front of the park when you arrive. Not a dealbreaker, just something to plan for. The 14-mile winding drive in is beautiful but slow — take your time and go carefully. Also, a freight train runs through at night, and when it passes it can literally feel like a small earthquake, which might be surprising (or a little scary) if you’re not expecting it. Lastly, some of the lower-level campsites that aren’t directly on the water have partially blocked ocean views due to shrubs. Overall, it’s a gorgeous, unique beach camping experience and definitely worth visiting — just come prepared and you’ll have a great stay.

Our most favorite place to camp!!! About a 20 minute drive from Hwy 1. We camped here last week, the first week of October. Had reservations for only 3 days, because we didn't reserve months in advance. On our 2nd day we were able to add a 4th night. YAY!!! Honestly i didn't want to leave after night 4 either. Beautiful scenery, and amazing beach weather. Tables and fire pits at every site. A gift/food shop on site. Famous for the Jalama Burger 🍔, but the chorizo breakfast burrito is pretty fire too. 😋 Anything you need they have. Newly installed flush toilets, showers $1.00 for 3 minutes. (QUARTERS ONLY)We bring a roll of quarters. Some sites have electric hook ups. We tent camped with an air mattress and we're completely comfortable. Bring shade such as canopy or umbrella for day time, warm clothes and blankets for night. Lots of wood, a quality cooler. Relax, enjoy, live your best camping life at Jalama we do!!!

Love the store, they have good food and a really cool selection of drinks in the cooler. They had an AMAZING apple cake. Great place to walk and watch rocket launches. The road here is a little tricky so plan extra time.

I've been going here for 40 years and it doesn't disappoint! It can be cold, foggy or windy, but it's always beautiful! And today was perfect! Walk far enough and you'll have the whole beach to yourself... even on a Saturday. And after that long walk, there's nothing better than a stop at the store for a cold drink and a world famous Jalama burger 😋

Such a beautiful place to camp and we camped here multiple times before. Being able to camp right by the shore is always an amazing experience. Every evening we got to watch the sunset and each time it was a different experience. I appreciate how the restrooms were cleaned and they have running water. There’s even a playground for the kids also well stocked store at the site as which is a major plus and they certainly do make delicious hamburgers. This place is pretty isolated so you really have the beach for mainly just the camper or whoever wants to make the long drive through the mountains to get to this beach. There’s a lot of cool colored rocks and a lot of tar, which you don’t want to step on.

Beautiful beach and the store has anything you could need plus incredible burgers. I ate here twice since it’s the best beach burger I’ve had in a while. Camp grounds are not as cozy as some others I’ve been to. Soap dispensers were empty and no electric outlets at the campsites. It’s also a commitment to come here but all in all everyone was very friendly and seemed happy to be enjoying a beautiful area.

Accidentally stumbled on this and it has been the highlight of my trip. This is a secluded quiet beach, has almost a nostalgic classic American beach feel to it. The drive to it is narrow and windy but fully paved and quite fun. The beach was wonderful great water and nice breeze. This is one of those kinds of places you want to keep to yourself because it is so good. If you come here, please be respectful of the community that lives here while driving down these roads and do your part to clean up after yourself to keep such places beautiful

Our favorite California Beach Campground. Off the beaten path, but well worth the drive. Great for families with little kids. Safe and many activities, including a playground. Tiny tots, riding scooters and bicycles around the campground. Must try the Jalama burger.

Very beautiful beach. The campground was nice, the bathrooms were always clean but the showers were a bit small(4 quarters/ 3 min to use) and no quarter machine so you have to get change from the store when they are open after 10am. Lots of birds to see and trails to walk. They have a playground that the kids really enjoyed. There is no cell service anywhere on site but there is free WiFi that works well enough. Lastly the road to the park has lots of turns and a couple of the kids got car sick, luckily we had bags because the road does not really have any space to pull over.
