Covering over 750 acres, this natural sanctuary is defined by its deep limestone gorge carved by the Little Miami State and National Scenic River. The park offers a serene escape into nature, characterized by dramatic cliffs, diverse plant life, and a historic legacy that preserves the rugged beauty of the region for modern travelers who enjoy a quiet, forest-heavy setting.
Location & Surroundings
Situated just outside the eclectic village of Yellow Springs, OH, the park sits in a prime location for those who love the outdoors. It is directly adjacent to the Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve and the Glen Helen Nature Preserve, creating a massive continuous corridor of protected woodland. The surrounding landscape transitions from flat farmland into lush, shaded forests and rocky overlooks that provide stunning views of the river valley below throughout the seasons.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground at John Bryan offers a rustic and peaceful atmosphere that focuses on the natural environment. While the park is often favored by smaller rigs and van lifers, there are electric hookup sites available for those needing power. Standard amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, and access to a public dump station and drinking water. The sites are well-shaded by mature hardwood trees, offering plenty of privacy and a true woodland camping experience for every visitor.

Some nice hiking scenery as the Little Miami National Scenic River runs through it. We visited after a big rain, so the trails were a bit muddy and you had to watch your step. There are ten trails through the park with varing degrees of difficulty. You can see the limestone cliffs, which were cut by the river. It is adjacent to Glen Helen and Clifton Gorge Nature Preserves, where you can experience even more of the natural beauty of the area, and all within a stone's throw of Yellow Springs, where you can find dining options. There is a public rock climbing area and canoe launch as well. The park has a camp ground, but it was not open in early March, when we visited.

We had a very relaxing stay at this beautiful pet friendly campground. Quiet and pleasant with a LOT to do in the area. Great hiking trails, close to Clifton Gorge and Glen Helen Nature Preserve. The campground manager Danny Kuebler was so knowledgeable and friendly and made our stay even more enjoyable. Can’t wait to go back and see more of this fantastic place.

My family and I decided we wanted to go on a drive through a nice park. I am only visiting this area and this park was a recommendation from a family member that visits frequently. I am glad we drove through this park as it was nothing short of being peaceful and relaxing. We caught some of the trees at the right time! We plan to drive through again soon.

Great hiking! Hills, rocky terrain by water with falls. $10 to park. Moderate hike. I’d not recommended for those with balance issues. Near Yellow Springs for drinks or shopping.

Lot's of hiking and maybe spot some deer. The river is awesome, but no swimming or wading. I did see few people fishing. Restrooms are clean. Did see some signs for camping. Park also has heavy rain and storm shelters. It is an absolutely beautiful place. I was there at the end of July.
