Kankakee River

The Kankakee River is a tributary of the Illinois River, approximately 133 miles (214 km) long, in northwestern Indiana and northeastern Illinois in the United States. The river is named for the Kankakee tribe, a Native American people who lived in the area in the 17th century. The river is home to a variety of wildlife, including bald eagles, beavers, and muskrats. The Kankakee River is a popular destination for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and other recreational activities. The river flows through the towns of Bourbonnais, Kankakee, and Momence in Illinois, and through the towns of Knox, North Judson, and South Bend in Indiana.
