This place is amazing! Great campgrounds, especially the equestrian campground. Great trails that are very well marked. The lake and surrounding area is a migratory pathway for many species of waterfowl. We can't wait to come back again.

Beautiful campground, don't book Sumac loop if you need a shower and toilet. They aren't on this loop. You'll have to drive over to Cottonwood loop. Not really clear on Reserve America. Also, camping fee doesn’t cover your tow vehicle. That's another five bucks. Knowledge is power.

If you're going there to hike, this review is for you. Kanopolis could be the best hiking in Kansas if they would just maintain the trails. Extremely overgrown, absolutely infested with ticks and spiders, and totally swamped out at several points. Not hikeable at all in the summer. Find attached some videos and a picture of the trail, and yes there is a "trail" in that picture. The other picture is of my extremely bug bitten leg.

Water seemed to be down, but still an awesome place to fish and reminds me of wilson reservoir, which, so far is hands down my favorite lake in kansas. This works make this my second favorite. Lotsa trails and rocks to explore

This trail did not disappoint. We've never been to Kansas hiking, and it was a real treat. There were several groups of turkeys, deer, vultures, and largemouth bass in the creek. It's very fun to be in such a unique place. We did have to walk out of our way to cross the creek, but it was worth it. I really enjoyed the white blossoms; they smelled amazing.

We had an amazing time at Kanopolis lake State Park. We went kayaking, swimming on two beaches ( one free and the best one was $5), and hiking on the buffalo track canyon nature trail. We ended up staying at the Yucca camp, and it was in a pretty good spot. From our camp you could see the lake and had Easy access to two bathrooms. The bigger bathroom had lots of shower stalls, but the water got extremely hot very fast, and then would stay extremely hot 🔥. I would recommend going to one of the smaller shower buildings with the showers behind their own rooms/doors as those ones didn't do that. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves camping and the outdoors.

The park is beautiful. There are a number of volt toilets all over the place. There are a number of picnic area all over the place. They're a number of playgrounds. There's a beach. There's trash cans everywhere. The roads are all paved. There are a number of large trails and little trails and everything else.

Stayed at Eagle Point. Really beautiful area surrounding the lake that captures some of that old west magic. If you're planning on biking the trails, namely the Buffalo Track, it's 6 inch deep loose sand and very tough sledding. Split Boulder is fun and scenic. Drive up to Mushroom Rock and hit the Alum Creek trails for some easier biking. Wildlife is in abundance.
