Kilby

Overview

Kilby Park offers a unique blend of natural beauty and early 20th-century heritage. Located on the banks of the Harrison River, this historic site and campground provides a peaceful retreat from the modern world. Unlike standard paved resorts, this park emphasizes a rustic camping experience within a sprawling 17-acre site that includes a living history museum and a heritage farm. Visitors can enjoy the serene atmosphere of a bygone era while remaining close to the comforts of the Fraser Valley.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the scenic community of Harrison Mills, BC, the park sits at the picturesque junction of the Harrison and Fraser Rivers. The surroundings are defined by majestic mountain views and lush, green valley landscapes. Visitors often find themselves immersed in a serene environment where the sound of the river dominates, making it a prime destination for those looking to reconnect with the Pacific Northwest wilderness in a quiet, rural setting.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground features 35 spacious sites designed primarily for self-contained RVs and tents. While the park offers a back-to-basics feel without power or water hookups, it provides essential sandy beach access and a convenient boat launch for river excursions. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire pit, encouraging traditional campfire evenings under the stars, while well-maintained pit toilets are located within easy walking distance of most sites.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The crown jewel of the area is the Kilby Historic Site, featuring a 1920s general store and farm that offers a glimpse into British Columbia's pioneer past. Nature enthusiasts frequent the area for world-class eagle watching during the autumn months when the salmon run is in full effect. Additionally, the nearby Harrison River is a renowned hotspot for sturgeon fishing, and golf enthusiasts can find beautifully manicured greens at the nearby Sandpiper Resort.

Who This Park Is Best For

Kilby is an ideal choice for history enthusiasts and families who enjoy an educational twist to their outdoor adventures. It appeals most to RVers who prefer a quiet, off-grid atmosphere over high-density commercial parks. If you value riverfront scenery, birdwatching, and a slower pace of life, this destination serves as a perfect base camp for exploring the natural and cultural heritage of the region.

It's a fantastic and fun historic site for everyone! Their cafe has great food, and the entire site allows well behaved dogs to be on leash and even go inside the general store museum. Staff are knowledgeable in educating visitors about the history of the site. We stayed at the site for several hours, so definitely recommend families to visit as a day trip!

Pretty cool place! Would loved to explore it more but it seems fairly expensive for admission of self-guided tour with a small site. It is $15 for adult and $12 for senior. It may be worth it since they do have staff dressed up in the vintage attire and provide an interactive show and tell? There is restaurant on site as well.

We enjoyed our visit to Kilby Farm so much! Our seven year old grandson was enchanted by the journal and buzz button making crafts and also loved learning about butter making. His favourite exhibit was the Sasquatch exhibit and his favourite animals were the ducks. We rented the Eliza glamping tent and it was a great experience. Sharing a fence with Buttercup the cow and Peppermint the goat was great fun, and we also enjoyed the trains! Perfect for family getaways, the tent was spacious and the beds comfortable. The little lamp that looked like a gas lantern a nice touch. The shower and toilet building was clean and an area for washing dishes was a great addition.

Wow! What a wonderful place, top notch staff and educational experience. I've been an elementary school teacher for over ten years and this is a MUST for school aged children to experience. Chris, the educational coordinator and host is beyond amazing. From her group management experience and knowledge to her calm and pleasant demeanor.. I can't say enough great things about this place. It's a National Historic society, and is only kept afloat and running from visitors and donations. Consider visiting or donating today!

This place ROCKS! Took the good folks from Bonsor 55+ out for the day, and Chris and her staff did a stellar job of showcasing life in the late 1800's early 1900's. From buildings to animals, period costumes (knickers too!). Plus home made ice cream!!! If you're passing by, and see this place on Google Maps, take the turn, drive in...you won't regret it!
