Klum Landing (Jackson County Park)

Overview

Klum Landing is a hidden gem managed by Jackson County Parks, situated on the eastern shore of Emigrant Lake. This destination offers a rustic escape just minutes from the vibrant culture of Ashland. It provides a tranquil lakeside environment where visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of Southern Oregon without being far from modern conveniences. The park captures a classic camping vibe with its open spaces and panoramic views of the reservoir.

Location & Surroundings

Set against the backdrop of rolling hills and ancient oaks, the park provides a sense of seclusion despite its proximity to Highway 66. The landscape is characterized by its golden summer hills and the expansive surface of the water. Because it sits at an elevation of about 2,200 feet, guests enjoy clear air and starry nights. It serves as a perfect base camp for those exploring the Rogue Valley or crossing the border between Oregon and California.

Amenities & Park Features

While the park maintains a natural feel, it provides essential comforts for modern travelers. The facility features well-maintained restrooms and showers, which are a welcome convenience after a day on the lake. Specific park features include:

  • The park offers several full hookup sites providing water, sewer, and electrical connections for larger rigs.
  • Modern restroom and shower facilities are available for all guests within the campground loop.
  • Visitors enjoy easy access to a public boat ramp for convenient water sports and fishing opportunities.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The biggest draw outside the park is the city of Ashland, world-renowned for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Visitors can spend their afternoons wandering through the lush greenery of Lithia Park or sampling local vintages at nearby boutique wineries. For those seeking outdoor adventure beyond the lake, the surrounding mountains offer dozens of hiking trails and scenic overlooks that showcase the stunning geography of the Siskiyou mountain range.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal fit for outdoor enthusiasts and boaters who want to maximize their time on the water. It also appeals to theater-goers who prefer the quiet of a lakeside campsite over an urban hotel. Because it offers a mix of full hookups and more primitive settings, it caters well to dedicated RV travelers and those seeking a traditional camping experience in a beautiful regional setting.

Not happy water is so low due to dam work that you can't put a boat in. No fish no camp host and you still pay $20.00 even when you only stay 8 hours and not over night. The day usege is cheaper

Ok, where to start. It is very beautiful here and watch out for the deer as they will ravage your camp if you leave anything out. The raccoons too. I wish that Jackson county would sell this campground to me. I would take much better care of it. We were there for 5 days and even though the county worker came every single day, the bathrooms did not get cleaned the whole time. The wind blows every day here so the dirt gets everywhere which is part of camping but it's why the bathrooms do need to get cleaned. This place is a major stop for the folks hiking the Pacific Crest trail and we got to meet some of them which was nice. There is no camp host here so you have to go to the resort for firewood and anything else and pay a premium for everything there. We wont camp there again unless I get a call from the county telling me that they will sell it to me.

Quiet, no drunk boating that we saw, wear layers high altitude and chilly-ish.
