Kring Point

Overview

Kring Point State Park is a remarkably scenic destination located on a narrow, half-mile long peninsula between the St. Lawrence River and Goose Bay. This unique geographic position provides campers with panoramic water views from nearly every vantage point in the park. Known for its tranquil atmosphere and vibrant sunsets, it offers a traditional New York State Park experience where the natural splendor of the Thousand Islands region is the primary attraction for every visitor.

Location & Surroundings

Tucked away in Redwood, NY, the park’s layout is its most defining feature, stretching thin into the water to ensure that almost every campsite feels like a waterfront property. The surrounding landscape is characterized by the majestic granite cliffs and dense woodlands typical of the North Country. Its proximity to the Canadian border and the main shipping channels allows guests to watch massive vessels navigate the river from the comfort of their lawn chairs.

Amenities & Park Features

While the park maintains a peaceful, natural vibe, it provides essential features for a comfortable stay, including several sites equipped with electric hookups for RV travelers. Guests have access to modern restrooms, hot showers, and a dump station. Recreational features include:

  • A sandy swimming beach and designated swimming area.
  • Convenient boat launches for both the river and the bay.
  • Picnic areas and a playground for family recreation.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The park serves as an excellent basecamp for exploring the St. Lawrence River valley. A short drive leads to Alexandria Bay, where you can board a tour boat to visit the historic Boldt Castle on Heart Island. Anglers will appreciate the easy access to some of the best bass and pike fishing in the state. For those who enjoy hiking and wildlife viewing, the nearby Minna Anthony Common Nature Center offers miles of trails through diverse coastal habitats.

Who This Park Is Best For

Kring Point is the perfect match for RVers who value serenity and waterfront access over the high-energy environment of a commercial resort. It is particularly well-suited for boaters, kayakers, and nature photographers looking to capture the essence of the river. Families and couples seeking a quiet, intimate camping experience will find that this park offers a unique sense of place that is hard to replicate elsewhere in the region.

Overall nice drive in campground that has campsites facing both the river and Bayside. Some sites you can drive right into; others are not as easily accessible; you basically have to walk through other people's sites to access yours which was weird. Bathrooms/shower houses were very well maintained, except there was no hot water while we were there so we weren't able to shower (can't do a cold shower in October, sorry!). About a half hour drive to Clayton, half that to Alex Bay.

Super nice park. Full of water views. And nice and quiet. Great spots. And bath house seem close to every area. I truly enjoyed my stay there. A must visit. Also super friendly staff.

We came to explore Morgan island. There are no campsites there. You just hike around. There are basic compost type bathrooms on morgan island. However in the actual park there are showers and bathrooms also.its a popular place, every campsite was taken. You can also walk along the road there for extra steps. They have docks and launch in certain areas.

Highly recommended campground to just disappear and relax. Water front sites are perfect with amazing views. Bathhouses are newly redone and very nice. Highly recommend checking it out
