Loved our stay once again. We visit La Junta every summer and the campground is beautifully maintained, cabins absolutely sparkling clean, and in a perfect location. I wanted to give 5 stars for the service but I guess that would depend on what time you find yourself interacting with the employees. In the mornings the woman working seems very condescending at times and unnaturally slow and out of it at other times. If you happen to be by in the afternoon however, there is an older woman that is absolutely wonderful and another woman always on the go but so kind!! We love staying at this KOA and will be back again next year. Can't wait to see the progress made on those railcars!!

We loved our stay! Moving from coast to coast and stopped in La Junta for the night. Was quoted almost $500 for 1 night & 2 rooms at local hotel chains, then we found this wonderful gem! We stayed in a cabin and the caboose and we all loved the details and cool features of the caboose stay. The pool and water slide were incredible & the dog park for pups was neat. We didn’t get to play mini golf but we took a peek around. Highly recommend! The owner was wonderful and helpful in every way.

A nice attractive campground. The premium sites are very spacious and there is nice landscaping. The campground is made more interesting because of its display of old railroad cars. They have a very nice restored caboose that is available to stay in. They were not very accommodating when I needed to change my reservation dates because my wife was ill. I made the mistake of booking a new reservation on line and then when I called to cancel the original reservation they would not consider a refund so I ended up paying double for my stay.

I was working a local contract last winter and had to stay at this park because it was the only game in town. During one particularly cold night, the park manager covered all the water connections with 5 gallon buckets lined with fiberglass insulation. The problem with this, is that he covered the temperature sensor on my heated hose, which resulted in the hose rupturing in the middle of the night. After destroying a $75 hose, the park manager charged an additional $65 (without any discussion) to my credit card for the cleanup fee. The cleanup consisted of letting the thirsty desert ground absorb the water in less than 24 hours. If you've read any of these other reviews, you know by now that Brad, the Park manager, has a lucrative side hustle, adding unnecessary fees and refusing to refund things that he should. The office is always closed, with a sign on the door and number to call – – don't bother calling, you won't get a response. The park has a propane refill station, but I didn't see the point, since there was never anyone available for assistance. I refilled my propane at a gas station down the road. The Campground is located beside the town's main road and if the traffic noise doesn't keep you awake, it is lit up like a Christmas tree around the clock. The covers on the always overflowing dumpsters remain open so plan on adopting a stray cat while you're there. The rates are competitive during RV season, but don't change in the dead of winter.

Stayed here twice with our 10 & 12 yr old boys, Memorial Day Weekends 2023 and 2024. What brought us back was the following: 1. Awesome Pool - one of the nicest, if not THE nicest outdoor pools we have experienced camping, and we've experienced a lot. It is heated perfectly, has a fun curved waterslide that dumps into the pool, shaded seating areas, and a cozy natural vibe with the tall greenery around it. 2. South camping section is pleasingly shaded with trees and super quiet. The whole KOA is pretty far from the highway (rare for a KOA), and the South section is the furthest away you can get. 3. Great base camp for cool prairie stuff to do. Over the two trips, we did the Picket Wire Canyon Forest Service Guided 4x4 tour, hiked Vogal Canyon, toured Bent's Old Fort (managed by NPS), and visited Koshare Indian Museum. Google them, they are worthwhile activities. On our list for next time is to explore Apishapa Canyon (State Wildlife Area) and paddleboard at John Martin Reservoir State Park. 4. La Junta is a decent sized town with good restaurants (Lucy's Tacos tops), a historic downtown with a restored movie theatre, and a nice, large city park. This a refreshing alternative to a mountain camping trip, especially in May or early June when the high country is still thawing out and not even green yet.

We stopped at KOA Journey on our motorcycle ride around Colorado. Brad was friendly and helpful at the check-in. He delivered some firewood while we were at dinner. We stayed in the Cool Caboose, which was, in fact, very cool! I'll stay here again.

I rented a Deluxe Cabin online. When I arrived I could not find my key in the box, so called but received no reply. I did find the cabin unlocked, to find an extreme foul chemical odor that was overwhelming. The air conditioner smelled terrible, the filter reset light was on. I tried to air out the cabin but that did no good as the chemical smell was saturated into the woodwork and bedding. I called the office again, no reply. The chemical and air conditioner odor gave me a headache and made me nauseous pretty much right away. I determined I could not sleep there overnight. I left a note and locked the cabin and left the site. I slept in the parking lot, in my truck, at a Sonic, instead of subjecting myself to the exposure of the cleaning and sanitization chemicals. Emails with them result in them saying they did not get my calls,, along with no offer to make it right. The cabin was dirty. The public restrooms has spider webs to ducks under to enter. The lighting near the office was like a landing strip for campers in the first few rows. Unless this is the experience you desire also, find another location for safe harbor. This is not typical KOA quality, this location is subpar.

nicest people i deal with them for my propane needs they are professional and compassionate i had limited money to fill my tank they went ahead filled the tank to the amount of money i had which worked out great

This place is lit up like the Vegas strip! There are street lights attached to the top of all the power connection stations. They shined directly in our window from only a few feet away all night long. It is really annoying. The sites are easy access, they're plenty wide. Rv hookups are also easy to access. The entire park, including restrooms and showers are conveniently located and clean. There are areas for dogs and kids. The small pool was closed for the season during our visit. There is a railroad theme about the park, including some cabins in rail cars.

TANGO WHISKEY TRAILER TRANSPORT LIMITED moved an RV- a fifth wheel out of here on 12FEB22. Very easy access to and from US-50. Very clean park, wide drives, pull thru spots. Restrooms very clean.

I always rent cars from these guys for my traveling needs and they are so friendly! The owner is a really nice guy; very knowledgeable about lots of attractions locally and all around Colorado and even other states. He's got lots of ideas about cool stuff to check out. The business practice is operated honestly and the owner strives to keep prices as low as he can which of course I really appreciate. I love the little shop in the office. It has local honey and salsa for sale and fun for kids decorations. It seems to have just about anything one might need while camping on the very nice looking site. Also, it's really close to Walmart so if he does not have what you are needing in his shop it's not far away. There is a cute little ice cream trailer called "The daily planet out front which we love to swing by in the summer because they have the best prices in town. And, a good selection. Anyway, I totally recommend doing business here if you are traveling or even just locally needing to get away from home. -Happy customer here!

Not fancy. But very cute. Great for overnight or maybe two, but that's exactly what KOA Journey RV parks are all about. Easy in and out off Highway 50, easy to find. Walk right out the entrance to the park and into Candlelight for BBQ. Quick walk to stores as well. Good dog park which my dog enjoyed which had agility equipment. Pool (didn't use), and very cute playground for kids. Even though my site was near the highway and train tracks, it was very quiet. 40-foot DP towing my car so ~61 feet long and had no trouble maneuvering in the park, and my site had ample space to allow keeping the TOAD hooked up since I was only staying one night. I will definitely remember this place and return. Plus, it's a great choice if seeing Bent's Old Fort, or if you want to stop in nearby Rocky Ford during melon season!

The campground was clean and the tent area we stayed at had privacy fencing around it that helped us feel safer. The bathroom on the other hand was very outdated and to top it off the bathrooms did not have security codes so anyone can stop by the camp and walk-in. Other KOA I have been too provided that sense of security. This camp ground is off I-50, there needs to be more security measures in place to protect the guests. The staff was very helpful and friendly!
