Lac la Hache
Overview
Lac La Hache is often called the "Longest Town in the Cariboo," but for RVers, it represents a serene escape into the heart of British Columbia's ranch country. The park is nestled along the shores of a stunning 19-kilometer-long lake, offering a mix of forest-shaded sites and easy lake access. It provides a peaceful base for those exploring the historic Gold Rush Trail while enjoying the natural beauty of the interior plateau and the surrounding wilderness.
Location & Surroundings
Situated right off Highway 97, the park is easily accessible for rigs of various sizes. The surrounding landscape is characterized by rolling hills, Douglas fir forests, and the vast expanse of the lake itself. Its location makes it a perfect midway point between the lower mainland and the northern interior, surrounded by the heritage of the Cariboo region and the distant peaks of the Cariboo Mountains.
Amenities & Park Features
The park offers a classic camping experience with spacious, well-treed sites that provide a sense of privacy and nature. While these sites are primarily designed for dry camping, the park includes essential facilities to ensure a comfortable stay:
- A dedicated boat launch located directly across the highway for water access.
- Strategic hand pumps for fresh water and well-maintained pit toilets.
- A large day-use area featuring lakeside picnic tables and swimming spots.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Fishing is the primary draw here, with the lake being famous for its trophy-sized lake trout and Kokanee. Travelers can explore the nearby 108 Mile Ranch Heritage Site to learn about local history or head to the town of 100 Mile House for essential supplies. The lake is also ideal for water skiing, paddling, and swimming during the warm summer months when the water temperature is most inviting.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts and anglers looking for a traditional lakeside experience in a quiet environment. Because of the peaceful atmosphere and large sites, it is also highly recommended for family road trips seeking a natural setting without the bustle of larger commercial resorts. It serves as an ideal choice for those who appreciate scenic views, heritage sites, and the slow pace of life in BC.

Had an absolute blast up here at Lac La Hache! The campsite is very well maintained with potable water and bathrooms with flush toilets and hot water, soap and paper towels. There is a sweet tunnel that runs under the highway to gain access to the beach. If you are in the area this place is definitely worth staying a few nights

Nice park with a lake for swimming and a outdoor open shower for rinsing after a swim. Restrooms with flushed toilets and sink available. Lots of parking and picnic tables.

A wonderful place to camp. There are about 80 sites, many are big enough for a trailer/RV. There is running water and flush toilets. No showers though. Camp hosts are super friendly and keep the sites in tip-top condition. Each site comes with a fire pit and large picnic table. There is considerable road noise because it is beside the highway. Bring earplugs and you will be fine. There is a walking path to the Lake which has a day-use park with picnic tables and swimming area. Campsite is between 100 Mile House and William's Lake. A gas station is close by to pick up ice and other necessities. We have been several times and will be back!

The campground was a pleasant surprise! Bathrooms had electricity, flush toilets and soap dispensers at the sink. The campground sites are well spaced with lots of shade and privacy. We were impressed with how quiet and respectful the people were even on the weekend. It’s close to the highway but the noise dropped off at night. The walkway under the highway to the lake is a great feature. The beach area at the lake is a bit small and unfortunately the outdoor shower at the beach, recommended to wash off anything that causes swimmer’s itch, has been removed. Nice picnic shelter and several tables however!

This park is located on both sides of hwy 97 north of 100 Mile House. On the lake shore you will find the picnic/beach day use are with lots of parking, good tables, benches and some shady spots. Limited sand, lots of grass, good playground, shelter, and concrete boat launch. Up the hill and across the hwy is the campground. Rather hilly, but some nice lake views, level sites, flush & pit toilets, no services, but drinking water taps available. Some sites are close to the road with road noise. Large trees provide nice shade. Good tables and fire pits. No showers, some sites not suitable for RV's, 3 bars on cell phone.
