Lac La Ronge
Overview
Lac La Ronge Provincial Park offers a quintessential northern Saskatchewan experience, characterized by its sprawling water and rugged terrain. As one of the largest parks in the province, it serves as a gateway to the boreal forest and the ancient rock formations of the Precambrian Shield. RVers visiting this destination often come for the sense of isolation and the opportunity to immerse themselves in a landscape defined by over 1,000 islands and pristine shorelines.
Location & Surroundings
Situated near the community of La Ronge, SK, the park provides a striking transition from the prairies to the northern wilderness. The surrounding area is dominated by the massive Lac La Ronge, which provides a dramatic backdrop for every campsite. The terrain is marked by exposed granite and dense stands of pine and spruce, offering a scenic environment that feels worlds away from the southern plains while remaining accessible via Highway 102.
Amenities & Park Features
The park features several campgrounds suitable for RVers, with Nut Point Campground being a primary choice for its proximity to the town and its electrified sites. Visitors have access to modern service centers with showers, laundry facilities, and potable water. For those bringing watercraft, the park offers well-maintained boat launches and fish cleaning stations, catering specifically to the needs of the many anglers who visit the region annually to explore the vast lake system.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Fishing is the cornerstone of the experience here, with opportunities to catch walleye, northern pike, and lake trout. The Nut Point Trail offers a challenging 15-kilometer hike through the forest for those looking to explore on foot. Additionally, a short trip across the water or a drive to Stanley Mission allows visitors to see the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, which is the oldest standing building in Saskatchewan and a significant historical landmark in the region.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for nature lovers and anglers who prioritize a genuine wilderness experience over luxury resort amenities. It is a fantastic choice for families who enjoy water-based recreation and photographers looking to capture the raw beauty of the North. If you are an RVer seeking a quiet, scenic retreat where the sounds of the loon replace city traffic, this northern gem is a perfect fit for your travel style.

The camp sight was really good. With the right beside us. We went boating and fishing there. Really good for a refreshing camping. Loved it a lot ☺️☺️

Was beautiful camping in #30... on the other hand ...#60 which I paid for both :/ for 4 days each... #60 WAS NOT a good spot... yes it was electrified but if you like camping by a big ole lamp post where the light is shining on you ALL night long...Do it... but if you prefer something a little more dark find another spot... they wouldn't move us to another spot because we had stayed one night so ended up moving to #30 ...other than the ole light post ...it was great ...unfortunate the pictures on their site doesn't show that though other wise I'd have not spent an extra 130$ on top of the 170$ for the first spot :/
