Beautiful State Park and lots to explore like the Cottonwood Tree that is on the Big Tree Registry or fishing the LQP Lake/MN River or bird watching or... The Camper Cabins are nicely spaced out from each other and are located in the Upper Campground which has nice facilities! Plus the CC's have A.C.

It's a decent state park. The upper campground is the main campsite and probably the best place to camp. We stayed at the group camp 2. The only downside about it is that there's no running water at the group sites. So you either have to bring lots of water or go get water and shower at the upper campground, which is about 8 minutes away. The mosquitoes are the worst at the group camps . Our group camp has a large shelter, and a big, flat grass area for kids to play.

The sites are nice and spread out, though most are open without much shade. There are full hookups on the first loop which is rare for a MN State Park. The second loop is all electric. There is a nice modern restroom building with individual showers. The vault toilets are also nice and well maintained. There is access to the lake from different points not in the campground.

Upper campground is almost too spaced out. Never even met any neighbors. No shade, either. The small trees will probably look nice in about 15 years. Lots of little striped gophers. They were pretty cute. The views of the lake were great, and the sunsets. Weather was windy and a little rainy. We drove through the lower campground. I would not want to camp there. The trees were not trimmed, so we scraped our small RV just driving through. We decided not to visit the map shelter. There were thousands of mosquitoes outside, and we didn't want to risk opening the door. We also never saw where to go for the cottonwood tree, even though we drove past the area several times. It wasn't well labeled. Found ticks on the path to the office, I imagine they were other places as well. Overall, it was OK. Just wish it had more trails or things to do. A playground would have been nice also.

Limited hiking but there is plenty of variety from paddling, launching a boat, historical buildings (19th century mission, WPA buildings) and a huge cottonwood tree. The prairie here is wonderful. The upper campground has well spaced out sites, some full hookup and some with lake views. The restrooms are very clean. Although there is little shade, there is often a good breeze. The beach area has small gravel areas and large shoreline rocks. It was not great as a family beach, but picturesque.

Great place to go in the fall time of year. Great fishing, hunting areas, and some trails. The largest cottonwood tree is near the park, only a 2 minute hike off the road.

The state park is a beautiful place to camp at. The view of the lake from the upper campground area is breathtaking at sunset. There's available toilets, electric bathrooms and showers available here. The main park office is up the road from the campground but not to far of a drive. The state park has a beach area and canoe rentals. The lake has many wildlife birds such as pelicans and bald eagles. If you're looking for a good state park to camp at this one should be on your list of top places to visit.
