Nice place to bike but you have to pay a day fee of $5.00. Twice around the lake is 7.5 miles.

A nice county campground with lots of camping spots waterfront. Unfortunately, it appears they forgot to clean the bathroom and shower this year. The floors look like they have not been swept this year. The sinks and showers have not been cleaned, there are cobwebs everywhere, and some of the lights don’t work. Although somebody did empty the trash.

I went to the Lake Afton car show Sunday from 10:00am until 4:00pm. I enjoyed looking at all the unique hot rods and classic vehicles. The B-29 "DOC" flew over the car show around noon also.

Ok let's get the obvious out of the way. This is a very low cost park and a great resource for camping fishing boating biking etc. With those low costs come some downsides. There are a lot of long term stay folks, and a lot of people that are obnoxious and don't necessarily pick up after themselves after coming in at 11:30pm and listen to mexican robo rave music until 5am when they skirt out. All that aside, this is a lovely little spot out of season when you have some privacy. I was able to launch my little boat zip it across the lake and tie off right in front of my campsite. I had a wonderful time fishing biking and boating the little convenience store and the staff including the park ranger are just the nicest folks you could possibly run into. The sheriff does an excellent job of making his patrols and I had no issues. I'm going to give this five stars due to my personal experience but I would say that in order to get this place where it needs to be, they probably need to raise the rates a bit to clear out some of the riff raff and make this more of a focus on fisherman and watersports and families. If it were me I would have a 2-week maximum stay not just a two-week window before you have to move spots. This place could be really great and that's where I'll leave it.
