Lake Allatoona - COE/Clark Creek North
Overview
Clark Creek North is a tranquil Corps of Engineers (COE) managed campground situated on the sprawling shores of Lake Allatoona in North Georgia. Unlike some of the larger, more bustling parks in the area, this facility offers a more intimate and secluded experience with only 24 campsites. It is well-regarded for its wooded terrain and direct access to the water, making it a favorite for those who prioritize a connection with nature over resort-style commercialism. The park provides a peaceful sanctuary where the focus remains on the beauty of the lake and the surrounding forest.
Location & Surroundings
Located in the charming city of Acworth, GA, Clark Creek North occupies a prime position on the northern reaches of Lake Allatoona. The park is characterized by its rolling hills and mature hardwood canopy, providing ample shade for campers during the warm Georgia summers. While the setting feels remarkably remote and disconnected from the daily grind, the park is conveniently located near major highways, allowing for easy access to local groceries and supplies. The shoreline here is particularly scenic, offering expansive views of the water through the trees.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is designed to accommodate modern RVers while maintaining a rustic feel. Most sites are equipped with water and electrical hookups, supporting both 30 and 50-amp service. Guests have access to essential facilities including a centrally located dump station, hot showers, and laundry equipment. For those bringing watercraft, the on-site boat ramp is a significant advantage, providing easy entry to the lake's deep waters. Each campsite also features a standard fire ring and picnic table, perfect for evening gatherings under the stars.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor recreation is the primary draw for visitors to this region. Lake Allatoona is a premier destination for fishing and boating, known specifically for its populations of spotted bass and hybrid bass. Just a short drive away, travelers can explore the extensive hiking trail system at Red Top Mountain State Park or delve into local history at the Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site. For a change of pace, the historic downtown district of Acworth offers a variety of local boutiques and highly-rated restaurants within minutes of the campground gates.
Who This Park Is Best For
Clark Creek North is an exceptional choice for boaters and anglers who want a dedicated space to launch and dock near their campsite. Because of its smaller size and quiet atmosphere, it is ideal for families and seniors seeking a respectful and calm camping environment. It is best suited for RVers who enjoy a natural, state-park vibe and those who prefer a less crowded atmosphere compared to the larger multi-loop campgrounds found elsewhere on the lake.

This is such an easy in & out place to camp. And it’s nice that you can usually reserve a spot that’s on the creek. I appreciate that it’s not blown out with a bunch of people all the time. It’s definitely one of my favorite local spots to go camping to get away from the city and unplug for a night or two. And the staff are always friendly and willing to help or answer questions

Beautiful little campground. Nice lake views, comfortable sized spots for your RV, camper, or tents. Clean bathrooms with nice showers and hot water. Coin operated laundry. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

We had a fantastic weekend stay at Clark Creek North Campground! This smaller campground is a hidden gem with some amazing waterfront campsites that offer peaceful morning views and a relaxing atmosphere—especially in the evenings. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The facilities were decently kept, and the restrooms and dump stations are within easy access to most sites. The only downside was that the cove in front of the campsites got a bit busy during the day with boaters and jet skis, but that’s understandable given the great location. All in all, it's a solid 5 out of 5 from us. We really enjoyed our time here and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend if you're looking for a peaceful lakeside camping experience close to nature but not too far from town!

This is one of the previous Corps of Engineers campgrounds that was turned over to Bartow county. I was not pleased with the county for several reasons. First of all their reservations website is pitiful. When I called them it took a couple tries before I got somebody who was helpful and made reservations on the phone. Their check out time is 11:00 a.m. and check in time is 3:00 p.m.. presumably four hours to clean the sites between campers, but the two days I was there nobody cleaned anything. When we got to our campsite the fire pit was full of trash. In the site next to us, which is the one my friend was supposed to come in and rent the next day, there was a pile of bacon grease on the table. When I told the attendant that my friend was coming, when we checked in she "graciously" told me she would let her in at 1:30. She got there at noon, and the lady would not let her in. There was hardly anybody there nor any reason for this. She would not let her even Park the rig in the campground until 1:30 but directed us to a boat ramp on the other side of the bridge. So we went over there and it was also a campground run by the same people. We had to go in through the campground gate to get to the boat ramp. We told the guy our situation and he said he would have let her into his campground at noon. Finally, the bathrooms were dirty, from what I could see. There were no lights in the shower part, although what I could see looked dirty. I had to shower by the ambient light that came in through the bathroom part of the bath house, and it was pretty dark. The sites are very small and many are very unlevel. The one with the bacon grease had tree roots breaking up the asphalt creating large mounds. All In all, I do not recommend.

Acworh’s wonderful Clark Creek North Campground. Former ACoE now Bartow County is running the place. Love the staff and the camp sites by the lake are awesome. This is a beautiful, quiet campground. Rain this week for a few days, but ok, that’s part of life. Some spaces ready for a large rig. Water & Elec only at each site, dump station available. Washer & dryer. Cell signal 2 bars 5G
