Beautiful, quite park. The lake is very pretty, hiking was amazing, and the observation tower offered beautiful views. Will definitely visit again!

Beautiful park. Groves of oak trees and a very diverse ecosystem of wildlife to observe around the lake. The campsites are great and well maintained. Great hiking and a quiet campground. A hidden gem in North West Minnesota. Worth the trip.

8/9/23. I love camping here. There are electric sites right on the lake (39E and 40E). Unfortunately there was a toxic blue/green algal bloom while I was there and so swimming was not safe. You can rent canoes/kayaks, and the launch jetty is situated in a reedy corridor out to the lake. At this spot the birding was fantastic. In addition there is Aspen parkland with an interpretive trail. Purple blazing star was in full bloom in the prairie. The staff were extremely friendly.

Definitely worth a trip to this state park. Don't have much experience with the drive in campground other than a quick walk through but highly recommended the hike in locations. River Sandhole is right on the trail so if you want to have privacy then I would go with either Old Ranch or River Meadow. For the hammockers reading this, both those two also have good trees for a 12' hammock or 2.

We spent three nights at the Lakeside campground and it was very packed and loud our first night. There is no privacy. Once the weekenders left it became much more enjoyable. We did some hiking but not as much as we would have liked, be careful the ticks are really bad.
