nice, older state park built on lake brownwood. I believe it is one of parks built in the CCC era. It's a big park with many camp sites down closer to the water. The full hookup sites are limited and overlook a part of the lake. There is hiking, group sites, boat launches and a small camp store. Staff is friendly and the park seems well monitored.

Rolling hills, peaceful,fresh air.clean,lots of trails.foilage changing colors.great beautiful lake ( resivour) . Friendly courteous knowledgable staff,host.hurt My feelings,a lot of site's I saw on web page were closed off for construction 🚧,guess I'll have to pass through again in the future.day use,fishing swimming RV's tents daytime use small area for full hookups,too far from the lake.water electric.area better,large open spaces armadillos,deer,various birds,bugs.boat ramps open plenty of trailer parking.dumpsters for trash everywhere and do not 🚫 smell .

Very nice state park. Part of it was closed. Probably a seasonal thing. There was a great hiking trail that followed the lake. It went further than what was on the map.

We camped at Lake Brownwood for a few days. We chose the loop with full hookups. The sites are paved thin. Not leveled front to back. We chose not to put anything out. It was pretty warm the time we spent there. Bathrooms looked clean. The lake looked beautiful. There’s a fishing area and boat docks. Not sure if the swim area was open. We didn’t go there.

Lake Brownwood State Park is only about an hour away from us so it’s a go-to when we want to get away for the weekend. Our church gathers here once a year for a cookout and games. It’s a pretty park with gorgeous sunsets. Picnicking, swimming, fishing, playgrounds, pavilions, boating, hiking, tent and RV camping, restrooms/showers.

I visited in May, when all of the wildflowers were out in all of their glory. The park was gorgeous! I enjoyed the hiking trails. Especially the Texas Oak Trail, right by the shore of the lake. It offered some more interesting, rocky hiking, which kept me engaged and interested in the trail. There were a lot of people out and about, so not a whole lot of solitude. I think this is a great State Park for those who want a lake and some decent hiking. Definitely recommend for people in this part of Texas.

Peaceful Lakeside Getaway! Lake Brownwood State Park is a hidden gem! The campsites are clean and spacious, the lake is perfect for kayaking and fishing, and the hiking trails offer beautiful views and plenty of wildlife. Restrooms and showers were spotless, and the staff was super friendly. Whether you're relaxing by the water or exploring the trails, this park delivers a great escape into nature. Can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful Park with nice hiking trails. The park has a lot to offer. Several programs on weekends. A couple of fishing bridges. We stayed at Council Bluff. That loop is full hookup. My only complaint was the site pads are narrow. The campsites are close together There wasn't a lot of shade. If we go again will definitely for an outer site. They are a little more shaded and roomier. The staff is super friendly and very informative. We had the pleasure of seeing Walter. A sheep who took on the characteristics of a deer and lives and roams with them.
