I have been going to Lake camanche since the early early seventies. Always the North shore. I didn't realize what I was missing by not going or at least inspecting the South shore. I wanted to take my dogs for a ride today since it was raining let's go check out Lake camanche South shore. They have everything from tent camping to rving to renting cabins. I know that it's a good place to fish but I saw the biggest male deer I've ever seen on the western side of the Sierras. I would easily say it would have been a state record. We even saw a bunch of white pelicans. Google says they should have migrated by now out of the 20 or so that I saw today they look pretty much like locals to me. So if you're looking for a place to camp to spend the day or to RV research Southlake camanche in the middle of the motherload all kinds of short day trips are not far away it would be a good place to have a base camp. But don't tell everybody I hate to see you get crowded. Call that is about all I have to say have a wonderful day and stay safe.

While the lake and the amenities the camp offers are nice. Some of the campsites are falsely advertised. We reserved lot 80 and 81, and while 80 was a decent spot. Lot 81 was not, there is a giant boulder in the middle of the campsite. There is no access to the lake from here since the fence blocks it off. We didn’t even end up setting up camp here and just used lot 80 for all our family.

Awesome camping spot. You must be self contained ti back up to the trout pond but the weather and the views were fantastic.

The lake is beautiful, and the grounds are very well kept....but it does tend to get overcrowded. Too much for my liking. I've never camped there but have visited family while they camped. Tents are too close to each other, and people walk through your site constantly. Having to listen to several other groups' music at the same time is no fun. It's not my idea of a relaxing weekend. Still. because it's so close, we do go often. Early, very early. Cook breakfast , relax, and watch the place fill up with Day Users like us. About noon, when it starts to warm up, we're ready to leave. It's nice to give up our spot to a group that's been driving in circles looking for a nice place. They really do appreciate it. I would suggest going during the week if possible. It really is a nice place, and they stock the pond with trout during the summer.

Great time didn't catch any fish but kids made out on the trick or treat walk we took Saturday night... took OG papa's pontune boat out on the water , perfect end to a rough week for me it was . Family and friendly folks camanche has a lot to offer and never disappoints. Thank you to everyone that participated in the trick or treat walk.

Went in for a day trip to hang out with family and it was great. The kids were able to play in the lake and have some fun. It did get a little crazy towards the evening before we were leaving. Another campsite was having a little too much fun and an argument started and then someone popped off. Thankfully nobody was hit and our party was safe.

Coyote Flat 316. For the people who previously stayed here: pick up you freaking trash, especially your cigarette butts! You inconsiderate A$$H@!3 Other than that. This is a prime location for big groups. 16 people. 4 cars allowed. 1 fire pit. Own path to lake. Porta Potty across. Sunset sets down right on this site looking at the water. Pretty flat. 2 picnic tables. Not much shade We took our own canopies. There was a rattle snake. It didn’t bother us. We had a private cove away from water traffic. South Shore. I recommend. Just pick up after yourself. Don’t leave caps of bottles. Leave no trace behind. Travelingwhilelatina IG

A few friends and I spent memorial day morning 2024 trail riding. It was so beautiful and peaceful. Only wish we could take the horses in the water out on the trail.
