Lake Casa Blanca International
Overview
Lake Casa Blanca International State Park offers a refreshing desert oasis located just on the outskirts of Laredo, Texas. This state-managed park centers around a sprawling 1,650-acre reservoir, providing a stark and beautiful contrast to the surrounding brush country. It serves as a primary recreational hub for both locals and traveling RVers, blending outdoor adventure with the convenience of being near a major city. Whether you are looking for a quiet place to watch the sunset over the water or an active weekend of water sports, this park provides a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the heart of Webb County, the park reflects the unique landscape of the South Texas Plains. The terrain is characterized by mesquite trees, thorny scrub, and wide-open skies that create a sense of rugged isolation despite the proximity to urban amenities. The lake itself is the centerpiece, drawing in a variety of migratory birds and local wildlife. RVers will appreciate the easy access from Interstate 35 and Loop 20, making it a convenient stop for those traveling toward the international border or exploring the Rio Grande Valley.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is well-equipped for modern travelers, offering numerous campsites with water and electric hookups, including several sites that provide full sewer connections. For those who enjoy active recreation, the park features lighted tennis courts, basketball courts, and volleyball areas. Boating enthusiasts can utilize the well-maintained ramps to access the water, while those preferred to stay on land can explore several miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. Modern restrooms with hot showers and a group pavilion make extended stays comfortable for families and larger gatherings.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
While the lake is famous for trophy bass fishing and flathead catfish, there is plenty to explore just outside the park gates. Visitors can drive into historic Laredo to visit the Republic of the Rio Grande Museum or enjoy the vibrant culture of the San Agustin Plaza. Shopping is a major draw in the area, with the nearby Outlet Shoppes at Laredo offering a wide variety of retail options. For a nature-focused day trip, the Max A. Mandel Municipal Golf Course provides stunning views of the Rio Grande riverbanks just a short drive away.
Who This Park Is Best For
Lake Casa Blanca is ideal for winter Texans seeking a warmer climate during the colder months, as well as families looking for a versatile weekend getaway. Its combination of water-based activities and sports facilities makes it a hit with active travelers and angling enthusiasts. Because it is located near a major port of entry, it is also a perfect home base for RVers who are preparing for a cross-border journey or those who want to experience the rich, bilingual heritage of the Texas borderlands in a safe and scenic environment.

We love this park. We stayed at site 104 which has a path that leads directly to the fishing pier and the shoreline. It was also a path forany animals like deer, javelina, cats and many more. We will definitely be back. It also has some great trails for hiking and biking which we thoroughly enjoyed

Nice park, very close to highway and airport, but it is a little oasis. Campsites are large with great shelters, all semi private and spaced apart well. Washrooms could do with a revamp. Nice that the campground and day use area are on completely opposite sides of the lake. It means the campground stay fairly quiet.

Stayed here while I was in town for work. Very quiet, beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Lots of hiking trails and clean restrooms and showers! I will definitely stay here again!

I love this place, it's clean and even when it's busy you still have plenty of areas to be alone, I personally take my paddle board or kyak out several times a week.
