Beautiful state park! There are several campgrounds around the lake. Some are mostly dry camping. I did see a couple that had electricity. The area is serene.

This place is absolutely beautiful. Such a tranquil place to stop and see. A must if your passing through. Don’t forget to bring your fly pole and give it a whirl. Even the rest rooms are well cared for. And the tribute to the solider on the walk up approach is amazing!

We enjoyed our overnight stay. It was clean, had a fire pit, a picnic table and drinking water. There was also a very clean pit toilet nearby. Our space was right next to the lake.

I wish I could give negative then thousand stars. I am a 44yo native Idahoan. Tried to spend a nice weekend catching Perch at Van Wyck. And after purposely going to the DMV in Cascade AND the parks department on the old mill site, (if anyone still remembers where that was) we come back and I get a call saying I have to be ready to move my camp at a moments notice. Unbeknownst to us we parked on the camp host position. Absolutely NO markings that it was the camp host spot. But these communists that probably aren't even real Idahoans throwing their weight around with absolutely NO signage is ABSOLUTELY out of bounds and absolutely ridiculous. People wonder why Idahoans hate transplants. Well there you go. Idaho Parks and rec HATES real Idahoans.

Came to try out our new snowshoes and I really loved how beautiful this trail was. It's flat and easy, but gave us a good leg workout. There is not much parking at the trail head. It was beautiful and magical with all the new snow.

The drive here is amazing! We have taken the family to walk around enjoyed the scenery a few times now. We also visited during winter and there was tons of people ice fishing and riding their snow mobiles all over the lake. Gorgeous during both seasons.

Wonderful place to stay for a weekend. Great number of easy and moderate hikes around the area. The nearby town was bustling, but still had a homey vibe.

We stayed at the Sugarloaf Unit at Lake Cascade in west central Idaho. We stayed here for the Eclipse in August of 2017. It's approx. 2 miles off the main road and we found it very peaceful and quiet. You will be boon docking at this location. We had our trailer so it was wonderful! The campground has vault toilets and they are kept up everyday by the parks department. There are no showers, so be aware of that. Water spigots are within the campsite area if you want to fill your trailer there. There were two different trash bins at this place which was a bonus. The area is surrounded by pine trees, sage brush and the lake. There are several hiking trails throughout the area, mainly through the sage brush. The campsites are spread out so you will have some privacy. You are within walking distance of the lake. We did not go in the water but we did see some water skiers. We did see some reviews where people said that they got swimmers itch in the lake. Not sure about that, but you can do research if needed. This is a must! Bring mosquito spray. They love to come out for a couple of hours around sunset and there were a lot of them! Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay here. We loved the views and the peacefulness and found other campers very respectful and friendly.
