It was beautiful here. I wish there were more rides for toddlers. We had been to Six Flags the previous weekend, but I would choose to go back to Lake Compounce over Six Flags due to shorter wait times, better layout, more shade, and better seating.

Season pass holder here and absolutely love this place!!! Took my kiddo for the first time and she had a blast. I wish the kiddie coaster was open, but all things considered minor issue. From what I understand food has been upgraded too! We had a burger, fries, and chicken nuggets. Nuggets were definitely something we are going to order again. Oh and the customer service at the service center was excellent! Thank you for making us we feel welcome!

This is a good spot to spend a day in the summer - the park is a very manageable size to walk around and they have a handful of good attractions. Boulder dash is by far the most impressive coaster! If you have a season pass you bought online that you need to redeem for a physical card, or if you want to redeem a bring a buddy ticket, be prepared to wait 30-60 minutes at guest services. The line moved incredibly slow and was by far the longest line we waited in all day. The other big negative was what a huge rip off the dole whip is at the Main Gate Creamery - the “Large cup” is $9, we received the smallest cups of dole whip plopped into a tiny saucer. The employee working there also seemed like he had better things to do than serve 2 cups of dole whip. The employees at the parking area, guest services, and the rides, were all wonderful and very welcoming/inviting. The park was very clean and the Main Street area was very bright and vibrant. They added wait time signs at the entrance of each ride which is a nice touch and gives you an idea of how long you’ll wait in line so you can plan accordingly. It is the oldest theme park in America, but it has a nice charm to it and they’ve done an incredible job maintaining the park throughout the years. Parking is easy and they have a huge lot very close to the park - less than 5 minutes from the exit to our car.

Had a great time. It was a fun Christmas activity. The balloon man was amazing and made her a candy cane and a snow globe. The unlimited hot chocolate cup and churros were a hit too. Munchkin loved the train ride around the lake and of course visiting with Santa was the best part. It was not crowded at all and she had a great time.

This review is for the Holiday Lights event at Lake Compounce. This is the oldest operating amusement park in the U.S. and it opened in 1846. It's 365 acres and located in Bristol and Southington, CT. The body of water located in the park is the Lake Compounce; there is a beach at the lake and a water park. The name of the lake came from a native American who signed a deed over to the settlers; Chief John Compound, who was from the Mattatuck-Tunxis tribe. There are 44 attractions, 5 rollercoasters, and 13 water rides. Wildcat is the 14th oldest wooden rollercoaster in the world. They also have a newer award winning wooden rollercoaster called Boulder Dash; this has been named the #1 wooden rollercoaster in the world for 5 years. The historic Lake Compounce Carousel was built around 1890 and moved to the park in 1911. In December, they host the Holiday Lights event which runs through December 31. It's a fun event for children and adults. They deck the park with lights and have the tallest Christmas tree in CT, which is 100 ft tall. There were plenty of rides, games, and activities. Some activities include letters to Santa, DIY snow globe, and personalized ornaments. There's an opportunity to visit Santa, holiday characters, and storytime. There are some dining options onsite such as Johnny Rockets, a food truck, and dining hall. The prices were high which is typical for amusement parks. I've read that people bring their own food/drinks and would go eat it in the car and go back into the park after. We went on a Saturday evening which was pretty busy but not too overwhelming. There was a parking booth, large parking lot, and attendants showing people where to park. Upon entering the park, you can't miss that beautiful large Christmas tree. The restrooms were plentiful and clean. There are ticket booths and the lines moved pretty quickly. The rides were plentiful, cute, and fun for the kids. It was very cold and in the teens; there were some fire pits if you want to warm up. The lines for the rides were short and quick; the longest was the train ride. We were there for 3.5 hours and left right before it closed. We didn't get to ride all the rides but felt like we got our money's worth. Overall, my family and especially my child enjoyed the the park. This is definitely going to be a family tradition going forward. Also, I can't wait to check it out in the summer and will provide another update.

Stayed over the weekend 10/22-10/24 rented the tipi’s. There’s only five tipis and four were rented we couldn’t use heaters because it kept popping the fuses. They said because the tipis were on another electrical panel. I think if you’re renting them in the fall months you have to consider that people are going to be utilizing heaters. They need to up grade their electrical system to better accommodate their guests in the colder months. Other than that everything was neat and taken care of.

Amazing little place. It's a convenient stop right across from ESPN headquarters. Great amusement park access too. Staff are super friendly. No sewer but as easily accessible dump station on the way out.

I got a tent site which is roomy. There is litter all over the site when we arrived, but the campground is mostly clean. Private showers are a plus! I wish they had a change machine for laundry especially for after hours. The wood bundles are very small for 7.50. Be ready to purchase at least 8 to keep a fire for hours. The campground was pretty quiet. We did have a neighbor playing very loud music daily. The security took care of that. Loved being able to have the dog here on site. The staff are friendly. The mask inside store sucks though. Great priced with the discount tickets to the park.
