I’ve been coming to Lake George Escape Campground for over 10 years, and unfortunately I’ve watched it go downhill. What used to be a great mix of camping options has now turned into mostly cabins, with very few (if any) tenting sites left. One of the best parts of this campground used to be the traditional camping experience, but it feels like that’s been pushed aside in favor of rentals. It’s disappointing to see the changes, especially for those of us who have been loyal campers here for years. While the property still has potential, the lack of tent sites really takes away from what made it special. I truly hope management reconsiders and brings back more space for tent campers in the future.

Sites are average size, close but with plenty of trees and shrubs in between to offer some privacy. Kids enjoyed the river and rope swing. Restaurant on site was convenient but not good or bad - basic counter service type stuff. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Beautiful area with plenty to see and do.

The employees here are wonderful, our truck broke down 30 mins after checking out, after 6 nice nights of vacation. We needed to return and stay another night, the staff here went above and beyond to help us out! My kids loved the game room, and the owners of the gameroom were so nice to my kids! the cabins where very nice and clean, just could use a little better AC in the bedroom. Pool was nice and clean, I know my kids would of liked a little more with the pool area but still we had a good time in it. Restaurant and bar area by pool was really nice to have, was fun to get food and be able play pool and listen to live music and DJ. River was fun and great for relaxing in a tube! When booking I was nervous because you can't really pick your site and we needed a trailer site and cabin for our family, I put request in and they were super accommodating and gave us a full hook up site and cabin right next to each other as we requested. The town was a short distance away and was a lot of fun! Such a beautiful area by the lake and all the shops! Free shuttle was great, just wish it went past 9pm, especially since things like the fireworks in lake George only start at 9:30 so you can't use shuttle or else you won't have ride back. They had some good activities too, such as adult bingo and candy bingo, that we all had fun playing. The camp store had all essentials and more, cute souvenirs too! The one thing I would say is that we are used to themed weeks and this campground does do that too, but honestly we didn't really feel the theme, maybe it was just our wee, but nothing they had going on felt themed related. Overall they really seem to care, and it was a nice trip till our truck broke down and at that point they offered to do all they could to help, and they really didn't have to do anything we already had checked out. Although there are a few things I think they could do to make it even better everyone of us really liked this campground and we had a group of 10 of us,, kids ranging from 12 to 22. If you are thinking of trying this campground I think you will have a great time!

I’ve been coming to The Great Escape since I was a kid, back when Mr. and Mrs. Bee owned it. I’ll never forget the playground, pool, and the greased tree we climbed for prize money—such fun memories! Now I bring my daughter, who’s been coming since she was 2 and is now turning 11. We love making new memories here, and the sites are always nice. The bathrooms were a bit dirty last time, and I miss when Hemlock Road was for everyone and closer to the pool. The pool and bar area could really use an update to match how beautiful the rest of the campground is. We still love this place and can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely love Lake George Escape! I've been coming here every Father’s Day weekend for the past 7 years, and it never disappoints. My family always looks forward to our annual trip. We rent the cabins, which are always clean and well-maintained, making our stay very comfortable. The golf cart rentals are a huge plus, making exploring the campground easy and fun. The on-site store is well-stocked with everything we need, and there's plenty to do — an arcade, pool, miniature golf, tubing in the river, corn hole, and basketball courts. It's also very dog-friendly with a great dog park. We enjoyed a pig roast and brick oven pizza during our visit, which was delicious. Overall, Lake George Escape is a fantastic family-friendly campground that keeps us coming back year after year!
