Overview
Overview
Lake Hawkins RV Park offers a refreshing lakeside escape nestled within the scenic Piney Woods of East Texas. Located on the shores of one of the region's clearest lakes, this county-operated facility provides a tranquil setting for travelers looking to reconnect with nature. The park is well-regarded for its pristine white sandy beach, a rare find in this part of the state, making it a popular destination for both relaxation and water-based recreation throughout the warmer months.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in Wood County just outside the town of Hawkins, the park is surrounded by towering pine trees and lush vegetation. This secluded environment ensures a quiet stay away from major highway noise, yet it remains easily accessible for those traveling through East Texas. The unique landscape provides naturally shaded campsites and picturesque sunset views over the water, creating the peaceful atmosphere that characterizes rural Wood County living.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is equipped to accommodate a variety of rigs with full hookup sites offering both 30 and 50-amp service. Guests have access to essential facilities including clean restrooms, hot showers, and on-site laundry services to make long-term stays comfortable. For recreation, the park features a private boat ramp and a fishing pier, allowing visitors to easily access the lake. Each site typically includes a picnic table and a fire ring for traditional evening campfires.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
While the lake is the primary draw for boating and trophy bass fishing, the surrounding area offers several points of interest for day trips. Travelers can take a short drive to the historic town of Mineola for antiquing or visit the famous First Monday Trade Days in nearby Canton. For nature enthusiasts, the surrounding woods provide ample opportunities for bird watching, while the clear lake waters are ideal for swimming and paddleboarding.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for family vacationers seeking a safe, water-centric environment where children can enjoy the sandy shoreline. It also caters perfectly to avid anglers looking for convenient boat access to productive fishing waters. Because of its quiet, natural setting, it is a top choice for RVers who prefer a rustic, scenic experience over a high-traffic urban resort, providing a genuine taste of East Texas hospitality.

This RV park is one of the nicest I’ve stayed at. I will definitely stay here again and would recommend 100 times over. Booking was easy and even changing stay dates was just a simple phone call.
Lake Hawkins RV Park is fantastic. Clean, neat, well ran. Owners are on site and keep a good eye on the park. Sites are a nice distance from each other so you don’t feel cramped or crowded. There are some full hookups, but the park has a honey wagon that will come to your site and dump your tanks for a small fee. It’s worth it!!!! The beach is fantastic and so fun to play in the water when it’s hot weather. Stayed there recently, was our 3rd time at the park and can’t wait to return. Highly recommend.

Nice park on a pretty lake. All lake activities if you bring your own gear. RV spots are level even though they are built on a hillside. The best sites in the trees are water- electric only. Not crowded, even on weekend.
