3/5 rating but you may think higher after a stay. A wonderful campground and state park experience. We enjoyed the hike around Hope Lake with a finish near the old furnace parking lot. Afterwards a nice craft beer from Athens served at Hope Lake Lodge offered a beautiful view and a refreshing break. Campsites are paved with some electric and some rustic. They’re tight and set at 90 angles or less. Long trailers are not recommended. Situated on a long ridge. Bathroom range from flush toilet, running water, soap and air dryer to… … put toilet, hand sanitizer, and El Stinko smell! Showers near entrance and end of campground. Kids playground and great spot for families. Hiking trails everywhere! Pick one of many spots each day. Did I mention Athens, Ohio is down the road a piece? It is and you can find good food and excellent craft breweries. For example Little Fish is my new favorite!

Beautiful park. Stayed in a super clean rustic cabin and hiked maintained trails daily. The lake was beautiful. There is access to the dock for canoes, kayaks, and small boats for fishing. The lodge dining area available Th, Fri, Sat & Sun. makes delicious meals. I loved staying here & will be back.

We love going to Lake Hope Park! It is scenic, relaxed, friendly and peaceful. For the second time, we rented a small pontoon boat at the lake . Carol, the administrator at the boathouse, is always so accommodating, friendly and efficient at getting our rental reserved for us. She is wonderful! Our visit and time on the water was awesome! The rental fee is very reasonable as well as the pontoon boats very clean and easy to navigate around Lake Hope. To top the day off, we had an outstanding meal at the lodge complete with excellent views and courteous servers. We’ll definitely be back!

Beautiful park with clean cabins. Cabins has everything you could need from A/C to linens and a stocked kitchen with utensils, plates, cups, cookware and bake ware. Cabins seem to be very insulated as we couldn't even hear the cicadas. Would love to come back in the winter and try the fireplace.

I had an amazing time here! It is 20 minutes from Hocking Hills and the cabins are 125 compared to 200 and up ! The lake was nice with lots of hiking tails and exploring to do. I had an amazing time .

Big lake, great view. There are boatings and they give life jackets which is good. But it is an unguarded area.

Did a weekend getaway with the wife. Easy to book and pick up the keys for the cabin. Stayed in Iron Furnace cabin #8. It was clean and the bed was comfortable and didn’t leave us feeling stiff like some beds in rentals can. It was cold when we visited and the floors were cool even with a fire going but it was still comfortable. The views and the winding roads to get the park were enjoyable. Will definitely be back when it’s warmer to let the kids try out the beach and will bring my cross bow to try out the archery range near the beach. This was my first experience staying at a state park and honestly surprised and wonder why it took me 40 years as a buckeye to discover how affordable and enjoyable the parks could be. Don’t always need to go to Florida for vacation is the feeling I walked away with.

The campground was beautiful but they have some of the campsites on hills where it's impossible to set up a tent and the water along the edge was nasty so you couldn't fish with out getting snagged. All the bathrooms were outhouse type with no plumbing and were nasty. The area was real nice though. The staff working were real nice too.
