Lake Loramie
Overview
Lake Loramie State Park offers a peaceful retreat steeped in rich Ohio history. Originally constructed in 1844 as a reservoir for the Miami and Erie Canal, this park now serves as a premier destination for RVers seeking a mix of water recreation and woodland relaxation. The park maintains a quiet, natural atmosphere that highlights the beauty of west-central Ohio’s landscape while providing modern comforts for seasonal travelers and weekend explorers.
Location & Surroundings
Situated primarily in Minster, OH, the park surrounds the 407-acre Lake Loramie. The terrain is characterized by lush wetlands and mature forests that provide ample shade for many of the campsites along the shoreline. RVers will appreciate the flat, easily accessible landscape and the proximity to charming local agricultural communities, which adds to the tranquil and rural feel of the entire Shelby County region.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground is well-equipped for various rig sizes, offering full hookup RV sites that include water, sewer, and electric connections for a seamless stay. Visitors have access to modern shower houses, a well-stocked camp store, and a dedicated sandy swimming beach. For those bringing watercraft, the park features multiple boat ramps and public docks, making it incredibly easy to transition from your campsite to a day of cruising on the water.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Anglers often visit for the abundant bluegill, channel catfish, and largemouth bass found within the lake. Beyond the water, you can explore segments of the North Country National Scenic Trail, which passes directly through the park and offers miles of hiking. Just a short drive away in nearby Wapakoneta, the Neil Armstrong Air and Space Museum provides a fascinating look at lunar exploration and aviation history for those venturing outside the park.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for families and fishing enthusiasts who prefer a traditional, nature-focused state park experience over a busy commercial resort. It is a fantastic choice for birdwatchers and nature photographers due to the active local wildlife and nesting ospreys. Because of its quiet nature and well-maintained pads, it is also a top pick for retired RVers looking for a scenic, low-stress stopover with high-quality facilities.

New Visitor Center is fabulous. Educational room for little ones, and local history of how lake affected the area. Restrooms on outside of Welcome Center.

Great place. Great time till weather turned severe. Had to cut our trip short and leave in a torrential downpour. However, we will come back on a better day.

First time we've been in years. Stayed for the weekend. Park was clean and well kept. Several kids activities and recreation options. Its a small lake, small camp ground but full of families enjoying their time together ❤️

Lake Loramie is a delightful campground. We had an electric only premium site on the water. We could fish directly from our campsite. The cabins were in a beautiful place and many people were swimming at the beach. Half of the campground is in full sun and spaces between campers is a bit tight. The nature center had interesting displays and art activities for kids. The staff were welcoming and kind. We will be back and will choose a premium waterfront again. Some premium waterfront sites allow you to tie up your boat.
