Lake Of the Woods Resort
Overview
Lake of the Woods Resort offers a quintessential Oregon mountain getaway tucked within the Fremont-Winema National Forest. This high-altitude destination sits at nearly 5,000 feet, providing a cool refuge during the warm summer months. The resort has been a staple of Southern Oregon recreation for decades, offering a blend of rustic charm and essential comforts. It is more than just a place to park; it is a full-service mountain resort that captures the nostalgic spirit of a classic lakeside summer camp while providing modern full-hookup RV sites for today's travelers.
Location & Surroundings
Situated roughly 40 minutes west of Klamath Falls, the resort is cradled between Mount McLoughlin and the pristine waters of the lake. The surroundings are dominated by dense stands of Douglas fir and ponderosa pine, creating a secluded atmosphere. The resort acts as a gateway to the Sky Lakes Wilderness, offering a sense of isolation from the bustle of city life while remaining accessible via Highway 140. The air here is crisp, and the crystal-clear water reflects the surrounding peaks, making it one of the most scenic mountain retreats in the Pacific Northwest.
Amenities & Park Features
The park features a variety of site options, including back-in and pull-through spaces equipped with electricity and water. Beyond the pads, the resort serves as a community hub with two on-site restaurants, a general store, and a full-service marina. The Marina Grill provides a perfect spot for sunset dining after a day on the water. Visitors can rent pontoon boats, kayaks, or motorboats to explore the 1,146-acre lake. The resort also maintains clean restroom facilities and a laundry room, ensuring a comfortable stay in the wilderness for those on longer journeys.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Adventure seekers are perfectly positioned to explore Crater Lake National Park, located about an hour to the north. Within the resort’s immediate vicinity, the High Lakes Trail offers excellent opportunities for cycling and hiking between nearby lakes. The nearby Fish Lake provides an additional fishing spot just a short drive away. Anglers will find the waters stocked with trout and kokanee salmon, while winter visitors can take advantage of the extensive snowmobile trail networks that transform the landscape into a snowy playground after the summer crowds disperse.
Who This Park Is Best For
This resort is ideal for active families and nature lovers who want the amenities of a resort combined with the rugged beauty of the forest. It is a fantastic choice for those who enjoy water-based recreation and social atmospheres. However, because of the mountain terrain, it is particularly suited for mid-sized RVs and trailers, though some sites can accommodate larger rigs. It appeals most to those seeking a multi-day destination rather than a quick overnight stop. If you value lakeside access and a vibrant community feel, this resort provides the perfect mountain basecamp.

5 pm reservation,, over an hour to get our salad well over another hour to get our food...1 refill on water...3 hours of being there would have been longer if I didn't get up to demand my check....upstairs bar is awesome when ordering a drink from table undrinkable...definitely need better waitresses and a cook who knows how to cook more than 1 plate at a time...also broccoli was raw and food was cold

We had dinner at the Lake of the Woods Resort, we both had their dinner Burgers. My wife’s was over cook and my was decently cooked, she got the onion ring where she said where good and I got the sweet potato fries which I am not a sweet potato person but those where delicious. We had to sit up in the bar to have a lakeside view for dinner since the restaurant lakeside table are booked for reservations. All in all was a good experience, still couldn’t believe how much they charge for a cabin for a night we were told $400-500 a night by staff. For that price better come with a king bed and fireplace.

Really enjoyed the location, especially the lodge and activities. Stayed at a park model cabin with a loft that was only 4' high. Not good. Also cabin had no TV reception. But restaurant was a great, good food and great service.
Life's Good
Came up there for a three day retreat with a big adult group, we head rented many cabins almost a year in advance. We had one of the newer cabins, a one bedroom queen with two queen beds up in the loft. Beautiful cabin fully accommodated. Except for food bring your own😊 Check in was easy and smooth our reservations were made almost a year in advance. We were constantly reminded don't take anything from the cabin 🤔 we got it the first time we're just here for some R&R we're not thieves, They have a store where you can buy fishing accessories, chip, soda, beer, even a hot slice of pizza which isn't bad. You can also rent kayaks and pontoon boats, however, one very very short haired young lady working in the marina store and another lady waitress working in the restaurant, both seemed to have nasty attitudes and that was the consensus through out our group. I don't know how but we encountered a bat in our cabin up in the loft during midday, we flagged down a worker he came with a piece of cordboard and a bucket, made a suggestion to use a fishing net so he returned with two fishing nets. This resort not only has cabins for rent, there are hookups for campers and trailers and also a place for tents, highly recommend making advance reservations for cabins. They go fast, the prices are a little high even at the end of the season. We had 4 people to a cabin splitting it, so it wasn't too bad. There is so much to do here at lake of the woods. We explored the many hiking trails, most of us brought our own kayaks. You can rent kayaks, or pontoon boats or bring your own boats. There's great fishing. We got to see trout being delivered into the lake. They even have a nice restaurant with amazing views of the lake. We didn't have the best service, even with a dinner reservation for seventeen, we had to wait over 2 hours after ordering our food to get our meals and no, the restaurant was not busy. You are allowed campfires in the designated places at your cabin. Highly suggest bring your own firewood as a bundle of wood is $8. There is nothing like having a beautiful potluck dinner with friends and watching the sunset on the lake, roasting marshmallows over an open fire. Overall, this is a beautiful resort to visit, even if it's just for a day trip, we'll be back again next year doing our fifth annual trip.

We had a great 2 days at this resort. Our cabin was spotless and every staff person we met was great! The whole resort is lovely. We just relaxed and did some hiking in the area
