Overview
Overview
Lake San Antonio Recreation Area, situated on the South Shore in Bradley, California, offers a quintessential escape for those seeking a rustic, nature-focused RV experience. Managed by Monterey County, this expansive park is centered around one of the largest lakes in the region. The landscape is characterized by rolling golden hills and oak trees, providing a classic Central California backdrop. It serves as a retreat for visitors looking to enjoy the outdoors in a quiet, expansive setting away from major urban density.
Location & Surroundings
Nestled in the heart of the scenic Lockwood Valley, the South Shore area is positioned in a remote, rugged stretch of Monterey County. The park is surrounded by vast wilderness landscapes and arid rolling hills, creating a sense of total seclusion. Travelers arriving by RV will appreciate the quiet atmosphere, though the journey into the park involves driving through winding rural roads that showcase the unspoiled beauty of the California countryside, far removed from standard highway noise.
Amenities & Park Features
The South Shore facility is designed primarily for those who appreciate a traditional camping atmosphere over modern resort-style luxuries. Visitors will find primitive and developed campsites suitable for various RV sizes. While many sites are unserviced, the park provides essential facilities including clean restrooms, picnic tables, and communal fire rings. The primary appeal remains the direct lake access, which serves as a hub for swimming, boating, and fishing activities during the warmer months of the year.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Beyond the lake, the location serves as a gateway to exploring the broader Central Coast and wine country. Outdoor enthusiasts often take advantage of the abundant hiking trails that crisscross the nearby hills and oak woodlands. Those interested in local culture can venture out to visit nearby wineries or make the drive toward the coast for day trips. Bird watching and wildlife photography are popular pastimes here, as the area remains a sanctuary for various native species throughout the seasons.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for self-contained RV travelers who prioritize natural scenery over high-end amenities. It is a perfect choice for boondocking enthusiasts and families who enjoy long days on the water or nights under clear, dark skies. We had an amazing time at San Antonio Lake this Fourth of July weekend. Chris, who assisted us with the check-in and check-out, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We opted to stay on the North Shore. The porta potties were cleaned daily, and the restrooms had free warm water. Launching our jet ski was a breeze and stress-free. The campsite had a fire pit and grill. Unfortunately, the grills were worn out and broken, so we were fortunate to have brought our own camping stove and grill. HAPPY RETIREMENT CHRIS

Great place to go for camping and fishing. You can camp down on the shore.

Pay the fee and do as you please. Day use is 15$. I like the way no one bothers you. I pulled down real close to the water and it was no problem. Need a 4x4 to do that though. Caught 6 bass in 4hrs.

Not much of a lake anymore but a great camping area. Wildlife galore, turkeys, deer, and rabbits. You can also hear the coyotes howling at night and if you get unlucky your camp will be visited by the wild boar. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice camp experience with electrical outlets

The place was beautiful! The only part is the up keep needs some help. If there was better upkeep, and more employees, I would say 5star!
