It was great. Every thing was clean. Both the tent and RV sites are nice size. Fire pits and large picnic tables at each site. Hard top for parking. Gravel at tent sites. Plenty of shade. Swim beach was clean. The office attendants were very friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be the need for more tent sites, some of us like the old fashion camp experience.

We broke down on the side of I-70 and were very thankful that Lake Shawnee Campground had an opening for our RV to be towed to while our truck was repaired. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice park, nice campground.

Campground is located on Lake Shawnee in a beautiful park with plenty of activities. Bathhouses are ok, deficient on privacy for showers. The sites in the old section are parking-lot style on gravel with electric (50 amp, bring your adapter if you use 30 amp service.) There are some trees. In the newer sections, the pads are concrete & have full hookups, but seem less level, have no trees except between the sites & the lake, and the sewage connection is about 8 inches above ground level. Checkin was easy and efficient with a thorough briefing.

This campground is a childhood favorite and has continued improving over many years. I do wish they had more site sewage but not a big deal. The staff is great and even brought our passes to us at our site…caught a Blue Gill off the dock with a nice fat worm! Since then another Blue Gill and a Small Mouth Bass have been shared with me by the Lake. I returned all of them to the Lake. Fifty years of memories at this jewel of Topeka, Kansas. Learned to water ski here, did Winter camping even in a foot of snow, and many other great times!

Beautiful place! Nice cement pads, clean heated bath house, trees, picnic tables. We'll maintained. Great lake views! When we camped for one night it was low 50s and drizzly so we didn't get to enjoy the campground as much as we had hoped. So we will try again on our way south next fall. We really liked this place!
