Lake Simtustus RV Park

Overview

Lake Simtustus RV Park offers a unique waterfront experience in the high desert of Central Oregon. Nestled along the shores of Lake Simtustus, this resort focuses on providing a peaceful escape for those who love water-based recreation and quiet nights. It is well-regarded for its tiered layout, which ensures that many sites offer expansive views of the water and the surrounding basalt cliffs, creating a dramatic and scenic backdrop for your stay.

Location & Surroundings

Located just north of Madras, Oregon, the park is situated deep within the Deschutes River canyon. The landscape is a striking mix of deep blue water and rugged, arid rock formations that define the region. This location provides a secluded feel while remaining a short drive from local conveniences, offering a temperate high-desert climate that is ideal for summer travel, wildlife viewing, and evening stargazing.

  • Spacious clubhouse for guest gatherings
  • Clean restrooms and shower facilities
  • On-site laundry and high-speed internet
These amenities ensure a comfortable stay whether you are visiting for a quick weekend or an entire summer season.

  • Exploring The Cove Palisades State Park
  • Rockhounding at Richardson’s Rock Ranch
  • Golfing at nearby high-desert courses
The proximity to the Warm Springs Reservation and the various hiking trails throughout the canyon adds a unique cultural and recreational dimension to any visit.

We love Lake Simtustus! This is our 4th year and one of our favorite destinations. We usually do the big boat for a day which is super fun.

We love coming here in our RV. Hoping no more tiny homes are being planned. They took a lot of really nice camp sites. Also, would be great if the store could be open later than 5. We would have loved to do a little putting after dinner and maybe grab some dessert, but couldnt do either because the store closed at 5. We didn't bring a car with our motorhome so we would have to rely on the onsite store. Also, the treat shack wasn't open all weekend, although the park was packed. I know personnel issues are a struggle for businesses, but touting treats at the river, but then not having that open and closing the store at 5 on the weekends just doesn't seem very resort like!! However, we will be back again, because it is still a favor!!

Had such an amazing time last year, we had to return again this year!! The all day non- motorized rental is SO worth it. We had a blast paddle boarding, kayaking and paddle boating. Last year we stayed on level D. This year we reserved far enough in advanced to get level A lake front which was so worth it!!! The photo of my daughter on the rock is right off the camp site. A golf cart rental is a must here. The hills are steep. My kids love riding the golf cart to the top to play golf and pickle ball. We will def return again! Also the bathroom by the lake is nice with hot water that doesn’t run out!

We had a wonderful stay with our family! We had 16 people in our party. Highly recommend getting a golf kart... those hills are steep. Bathrooms were clean, kids loved the park, and the pickleball court was a hit! The boat rentals are fair and the water slide pontoon was good. Thank you Tammy K for the top-notch service and recommendations.
