Lake Tahoe Basin/Nevada Beach

Overview

Nevada Beach Campground offers a quintessential lakeside experience within the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. Nestled under a canopy of towering Jeffrey pines, this USDA Forest Service facility provides a rustic retreat just steps from one of the lake's widest sandy beaches. Unlike high-density commercial parks, this destination focuses on natural beauty and direct water access, making it a highly sought-after location for travelers who prioritize scenery and outdoor immersion over modern luxury. The atmosphere is serene, defined by the wind through the pines and the gentle lapping of Tahoe’s alpine waters.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Stateline, NV, on the southeastern shore of Lake Tahoe, the park boasts a prime alpine setting with stunning views of the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains. The campground is uniquely positioned where the forest meets the shore, offering a sense of seclusion despite its proximity to the local town center. Visitors can enjoy the expansive sandy beach and clear blue waters, which are framed by breathtaking sunsets over the peaks of the west shore. The location allows for easy access to both the quiet eastern shore and the bustling south shore activities.

Amenities & Park Features

This park is designed for those who enjoy dry camping in a forest environment. While it does not offer water or electric hookups at individual sites, it provides essential comforts including:

  • Flush toilets and drinking water accessible throughout the camping loops.
  • Spacious paved parking spurs designed for various RV lengths.
  • A heavy-duty picnic table and fire ring provided at every campsite.

Each site is integrated into the natural topography, ensuring the forest remains the primary feature. The park also features a large day-use pavilion and a designated beach area for dogs, ensuring the whole family can enjoy the outdoors.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Adventure is readily available with the Lam Watah Trail nearby, leading hikers through meadows and wetlands directly to the shoreline. Just a short drive away, the vibrant energy of Stateline offers world-class casinos, entertainment, and diverse dining options. For outdoor enthusiasts, Heavenly Mountain Resort provides year-round activities ranging from winter skiing to summer gondola rides with panoramic views. Water sports are the main draw here, with ample opportunities for kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming right from the campground's designated beach area.

Who This Park Is Best For

It is a perfect fit for families looking for a beach-centric vacation and photographers seeking iconic Lake Tahoe vistas. If your travel style involves disconnecting from the grid to reconnect with the outdoors, this campground serves as a premier basecamp. It is particularly suited for self-contained RVs, as it offers a blend of primitive lakeside living with the convenience of being near urban amenities when needed.

This is a fantastic place to enjoy and appreciate Lake Tahoe. You walk through pine trees in the sand until you hit the open beach. The views are amazing. You can park for free on the road just outside the beach park, but it’s only $12 to park right next to the beach if spots are available. It can be chilly even in the heat of the summer due to the strong breeze and cold water. There are several Canada geese strolling around the beach not bothering anyone unless you try to feed them. It’s a fantastic place to watch the sunset.

We’ve been coming to Nevada Beach for years — it’s our family’s favorite quick escape in South Lake Tahoe. We arrived around 4 PM and parked right inside the beach area (just $12). The walk to the water is super short, and the views are breathtaking. The beach has clean restrooms (including handicap access), a cute wooden bridge, and soft clear water that’s cold but amazing — like a refreshing cold plunge for your skin and hair! Our kids went kayaking, and we saw others paragliding. There’s even space to play volleyball on the sand. To save time, we skipped sit-down restaurants and grabbed salads and snacks from the nearby Target (near the gondola area). Each salad was just $3.99 — healthy, easy, and perfect for a beach day. Highly recommend this spot for families looking to relax without the fuss. It’s peaceful, fun, clean, and absolutely stunning.

After going back and forth about where to go to catch the sunset 🌅, our family opted to go to Nevada Beach!! So incredibly glad that we did, because it was absolutely stunning. We went to the beach in July, when the sunset was scheduled for 7:45pm and we got there 20 mins or so beforehand. At this point the majority of beach goers had left, and we were lucky enough to have a relatively empty beach to take in nature’s beauty! Everyday we have the chance to watch the sunset - but it’s not everyday you get the chance to watch it over such a stunning, and clean beach 🏖️ like at Nevada Beach. 10/10 recommend!!!

Easy in and out, restrooms were easily available and we had access to the water with minimal interruption because it wasn’t too busy. Super clean, tons of benches to sit and eat (bring your own food and drink). And only $12 to get in! Would highly recommend to anyone visiting for the first time like we were

I paid $12 parking, there’s a sign stating that re-entry into the park is not guaranteed so just a heads up. It’s a nice and clean, decent size small beach, with a nice view of almost the entire Lake Tahoe. They had 3 bathrooms, right next to a water faucet and attached to the water faucet was a spot to wash the sand off your feet. The sand was not your typical beach sand you’d find at an ocean but it had slightly larger grains. It felt nice 🙌.
