Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Beyond the park's borders, the region is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Lake Tawakoni State Park is a short drive away, offering miles of hiking and biking trails through oak forests. As the catfish capital of Texas, the lake is a premier destination for trophy fishing, but it also supports healthy populations of striped bass and crappie. Local towns like Wills Point and Quinlan offer charming boutiques and local eateries for those wishing to explore the cultural side of East Texas.

Awesome Thousand Trails park but needing some major TLC. Roads are very bad and the sites need some clean up. So many yearly campers with lots of junk around their sites. It was a very peaceful stay for us. We will stop back when in the area.

Very quiet with large sites. No wifi. Bathhouse( roof in poor shape with a big tree limb on it) , lodge (wasp nests) and pool( lots of leaves in pool and around the deck) all needs maintenance.

Gorgeous place to camp! Pricey though. It's nice right on the lake with plenty to do like their mini golf, playground, pool, game building and bathrooms with showers! Always a great time and we will be back often!

Cool trails through the woods. Great for Onewheel cruising through the forest. Thousand trails Campground with full benefits for members, unlike many others that don't.

As I travel to more Thousand Trails campground, I become more disappointed. The lake is beautiful but it's difficult to fish from due to overgrown lilly pads and brush. There are no lights on at the bathrooms exterior at night and they are absolutely full of spider webs so you run into them as you try to enter, once you enter the A/C doesn't work and it's over 100 degrees and shower heads are terrible plus showers are dirty. There is no store to even get a drink of water, no adult activities on weekends, massive potholes everywhere. It is very very sad that they attempt to sell upgrades and memberships but can't keep these gorgeous acres in better shape. I'm not giving up, just going to see if I can find a park staff team that steps up and takes pride in their work and try to find a Thousand Trails that is worth the $7500 membership I paid for in full.
