Lake Tombigbee Campground

Overview

Lake Tombigbee Campground offers a unique camping experience situated on the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas Reservation. Surrounded by the towering pines of East Texas, this park provides a serene escape for travelers looking to reconnect with nature. It is more of a traditional outdoor retreat than a modern luxury resort, emphasizing the beauty of the Big Thicket region and the cultural heritage of the oldest reservation in the state.

Location & Surroundings

Located just east of Livingston, TX, the park is nestled within a dense forest environment that feels worlds away from the city. The campground sits on the shores of Lake Tombigbee, a spring-fed lake that serves as the centerpiece of the property. Travelers will find themselves immersed in the Piney Woods, where the sounds of local wildlife and the rustle of pine needles replace the noise of highway traffic and urban sprawl.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features RV sites equipped with water and electricity hookups, allowing for a comfortable stay while maintaining a rustic vibe. Visitors can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, including fishing from the pier or exploring the water with seasonal paddleboat rentals. The grounds include a swimming area, picnic tables, fire rings, and a playground for children. While it lacks some high-end resort amenities, the clean bathhouse facilities and convenient dump station provide the essentials for a successful trip.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Beyond the lake, guests can visit Naskila Gaming, which is located conveniently on the reservation for those seeking entertainment. For nature enthusiasts, the surrounding area offers access to hiking trails and the diverse ecosystems of the Big Thicket National Preserve. A short drive into Livingston provides access to additional dining options and the expansive waters of Lake Livingston State Park, known for its excellent boating and fishing opportunities.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts who prioritize a quiet, natural setting over commercial resort features. Families will appreciate the safe, secluded environment and the chance for children to play outdoors. It is a perfect fit for anglers and birdwatchers looking to spend time in a peaceful habitat. If you enjoy a simple, authentic camping experience with deep roots in Texas history, this park will likely suit your travel style.

We love it here and never really want to leave when it's time to head back home. Husband enjoys fishing, dogs love exploring on our walks, I love the view of the lake and the beauty surrounding us. Cabins are cozy, wish the bed was queen sized though.

Very clean and well maintained campground with somewhat clear and clean waters where you can swim / fish / kayak / watercraft. It’s a nice little lake about 12 feet deep at its deepest point in the swimming area. It’s the hidden gem of the livingston/woodville area (NOTE they charge 8$ per vehicle)

Amazing place for a family trip. Have been to Martin Dies and it’s nice, but this place is just as nice with a really nice swim area. I had a blast. Lots of trees so plenty of shade and beautiful scenery

It was a dry book reservation. I wasn't sure I was going to get in the door and the lady at the check out counter was very nice. She said yes, we have room for you. Then I was thrilled, I told her I wanted to stay about a week and she said, no problem, as I entered the campground, didn't understand that it was a pretty good sized campground. My spot was very nice. Very quiet It started filling up as the weekend went on, but outside. That would I go back yes

We always enjoy visiting this campground. Friendly staff and peaceful, low key, relaxing area. We have stayed in other cabins, however 1A has now become our favorite. Although it could use a few upgrades, the lake view and large lot is well worth the stay. One thing to keep in mind about this cabin, the two beds are in an open concept room. Not a separate bedroom. There is also a trundle bed for extra sleeping space. This campground shares the same road as Naskila Casino and is close to a Dollar Store close by if you forgot to bring something. Until next time!
