Our camping spot was a huge mud hole. Whoever designed the campgrounds below the dam was an idiot. Water settles right into the middle of it. It's not like there's nowhere to drain it. It's a lake ! Someone needs to do some work there and figure it out. Step out of your camper into mud.

Stopped in for a bike ride to stretch out during our travels! Cute lil trail with a dozen interesting Trivia questions as you go down it!

Recently stayed at a duplex cabin at Wister Lake State Park. When we got to our cabin, the site and the scenery was great. I could picture bringing family and friends to this site, and having a really good time at the cabin. The problem with this is that they are duplex cabins. Maybe if they were stand alone cabins, that would be one thing. But the neighbors on the other side of the duplex were loud, and they brought friends over who were talking loud outside until at least 2:30 am. Some of them had flashlights and went walking behind our cabin, so I went out the front door to see what they were doing. When one of them entered our space with his flashlight, he shined his light on me, then walked back to his side of the duplex. The living room couch that folds out into a bed was awful. Sleeping on that thing was out of the question. So if you're not sleeping in an actual bed in the cabin, I recommend bringing an air mattress. Also the door that leads from our side of the duplex into the other side was out of whack, and the lock wouldn't lock. The only thing keeping this door locked was a chain lock. I put a heavy chair against that door just for piece of mind. The next morning, the neighbors next door got up at 6am, and you could hear every single word they said, as if they were standing in the same room. So sleep was out of the question at this cabin. So the whole experience was 50/50. The scenery was great, the picnic table and chairs around the fire pit, and the chairs on the patio were great. I could see it having potential. But the thing that ruined everything was stupid neighbors who wanted to stay up late, get drunk, and not care about anyone else around them. So if i go back, i would recommend renting both sides of the duplex cabin. And bringing an air mattress.

We stayed at the Victor Landing area for one night in our way through. Surprised that there was no notice on the website, or after we made the reservation, that the road was closed between the park headquarters and the campground due to flooding. I wish we had been told to enter from the west side toward the east. The flooding did not affect the campground itself. The Victor campground was very clean and quiet—the camp hosts were doing a great job and were friendly. The campground has a Ramada to rent, sand volleyball court, two sets of showers, and bathrooms. The sites have grills, fire pits, picnic tables, and level concrete pads. We reserved #15 because #14 and 16 were also empty—good thing they stayed that way—campsites 14-16 are really tight, so tight that there wasn’t a picnic table for 16 while 14 and 15 had to share. It should be two sites not three. The showers are institutional, lol, no bench, only one minute per push and not warm. It was very scenic. If we stayed again we would pick a larger site.

Great time at the lake. Stopped at the park store and could have been given better directions on getting to the park. Also the person camping next to the bathroom had half of the parking spots for the bathroom blocked. Bathroom was nice. Playground seemed to be enjoyed by the kids.
