Leon Valley Campground offers a serene escape nestled within the rolling hills of the Driftless Area in Wisconsin. This family-oriented destination provides a classic camping experience where nature takes center stage. Whether you are traveling in a large rig or a small camper, the atmosphere here is welcoming and community-focused.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just south of Sparta, Wisconsin, the park is perfectly positioned in a region known for its unique topography and outdoor recreation. The surrounding Leon Valley landscape is characterized by its lack of glacial drift, resulting in deep valleys and high ridges that are rare in the Midwest. Its proximity to State Highway 27 makes it easy to access while maintaining a sense of seclusion within the wooded grounds, offering a perfect blend of convenience and natural beauty.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground is well-equipped to keep visitors comfortable and entertained throughout their stay. Guests can enjoy a refreshing dip in the heated swimming pool or engage in a friendly round of mini-golf. The park features spacious sites with options for full hookups or electric and water connections to suit various camping styles. Additional facilities include a modern playground, a well-stocked camp store for essentials, clean bathhouses, and laundry facilities, ensuring a seamless stay for families and long-term travelers alike.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

As Sparta is widely recognized as the Bicycling Capital of America, the legendary Elroy-Sparta State Trail is a primary draw for visitors. This historic rail-to-trail path features three impressive rock tunnels and is located just minutes from the park. Beyond cycling, guests can explore the local cranberry marshes, visit the Deke Slayton Memorial Space and Bicycle Museum, or take a short drive to the Mississippi River in La Crosse for scenic boat tours and riverfront dining.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is an ideal match for outdoor enthusiasts and cyclists who want to be near world-class biking trails. The campsite what I sent what I thought had to pay for a go to swimming it was only open until six. You were next to a ball field. The sites were OK. You did have electric and water. They did have bathrooms all in all. It wasn’t a bad place

I had the opportunity to check out the campground today to participate in their first ever upcoming craft show. The owner was so nice and her granddaughter who is organizing the craft show was so helpful and informative. Everything was mowed, pool was super clean and the playfort looked like it would be fun for hours. I cant wait to camp there for a weekend soon.

They told us we had a spot. Were there to pay for the spot 3 times and the owner told us we had it but was never there to let us pay or do the paper work. We went there to park our camper (that she said we had) it was parked for a few days without a problem. We go there to hang out in the campground and the owner comes up to us with the WORST attitude yelling saying we have to move because the sold the spot to someone else. This place is very disrespectful and completely clueless about how to run their own campground. Very rude and bad service. The owner needs to find out how to run things properly or no one will want to be there. Terrible.

Great campground for the price point. Is large and very spread out. Ample green space with room for kids to play. Nice pool, and bathhouse has private showers. I had to move my reservation at the last minute, and the owner was very accommodating. I will definitely return!

The owner is incredibly helpful and accommodating. We were able to get a pull through towards the front and the space was plenty big. The grounds are kept nicely and the area was nice. The only disappointment were the showers. They were not the cleanest but my biggest issue was having to dry and dress in the same space you shower.
