Tent spots are small and close together and the lake is dried up. They are doing construction on the site so part of it is closed off but you can s till get to it. The campgrounds were well painted and clean.

Very cute park, but while we were there they were working on about half of it. The trail was nice and easy to bike in for a kiddo. I do wish the lake wasn’t dried up but we still enjoyed our weekend there.

Nice little park with a couple of 1 mile trail loops. Oddly enough if you combine them you get just 1.3 miles. All flat, easy hiking for just about anyone.

Nice. quiet. helpful rangers. Unfortunately no water in the lake due to drought. Beautiful nature trail. 10 minutes from Atchison KS. 20 min from St Joseph.

Park ravaged by the 2011 and 2019 floods, but is recovering nicely. Lake bone-dry when I was there but I did enjoy the short trail on-site. Quiet place to enjoy the outdoors.

This state park is a great place to visit for family and/or friends. There are multiple short trail options if you’re looking for a workout, I think the average distance is less than 2miles. You also have an opportunity to take a trip back in time and read the historical data that they have displayed. I visited this park on a Sunday late afternoon around 3pm and it was perfect temperature high 69° low 50° for that day and not too brisk so you can get away with not wearing a jacket.

Great experience! We were lucky and here when it wasn’t crowded. New bathrooms are great except the water is very hot! Sites are large. There’s a short trail. The lake would be good for paddle boarding. There’s a few playgrounds if you have kids.
