Liberty Harbor RV Park
Overview
Liberty Harbor RV Park serves as a unique urban basecamp for travelers wishing to experience the energy of the New York City metropolitan area. Unlike rural campgrounds, this facility focuses on providing a functional, gravel-surfaced stopover within a historic marina setting. It is designed for those who prioritize accessibility to major sights over expansive resort-style amenities, offering a practical, convenient site for RVers navigating the dense landscape of Jersey City and the surrounding harbor area.
Location & Surroundings
Situated directly along the waterfront, the park offers a distinctive industrial-chic atmosphere that highlights the skyline of Lower Manhattan. The site is positioned to maximize regional connectivity, allowing visitors to park their rigs in a secure, gated environment while exploring the city. Its proximity to the Hudson River ensures that guests are never far from the water, providing a constant reminder of the maritime heritage that defines this bustling corner of New Jersey.
Amenities & Park Features
The park provides essential services tailored to the needs of self-contained RVs, including full hookup sites with water, sewer, and electrical connections. While the layout is strictly utilitarian to accommodate transit in a compact space, guests benefit from clean shower facilities and an on-site laundry area. The pet-friendly policy and the presence of a nearby marina create a welcoming, communal feel among travelers who value having reliable utility access in a high-demand location.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw of Liberty Harbor is its unparalleled access to public transportation. A short walk leads visitors to the ferry terminal, providing a scenic and rapid transit route directly into the heart of Manhattan. Nearby, the Liberty Science Center and the expansive Liberty State Park offer ample green space and educational opportunities. Exploring the local ferry options is the most efficient way to enjoy world-class museums, Broadway theaters, and iconic landmarks without dealing with heavy urban traffic.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for the urban explorer who treats their RV as a mobile home base rather than a place for outdoor leisure. It is the perfect choice for big-rig friendly access to New York City for those who prefer to keep their vehicle parked while sightseeing. Travelers seeking a quiet, rustic getaway will find this site unconventional, but those prioritizing proximity to metropolitan culture will appreciate its efficiency and strategic location.

I was worried based on the photos I saw but this was a great stay. Shower was WARM, locked, and clean. Laundry available and clean. Service exceptional. So helpful with information. The only complaint was the smoker next door coughing so much at 1030pm! I also used a blackout curtain bc of city lights. What a fun stop.

DO NOT BOOK HERE!!!!! THIS IS THE WORST PARK I'VE EVER BOOKED! I booked this park in June, 2024 for September 28, 2025. The original price that I was quoted was $40 a night. I questioned that at the time, and they told me we were getting a seasonal discount. The day before we showed up, we got a confirmation invoice saying we owed $63.97. When I showed up, they told me my balance was over $500!!! (Over 4 times what we were quoted). I told her that the previous day I had received that email, and showed it to them, and the girl told me that somebody was supposed to call me and tell me that their prices went up. I never received a call nor an email. I asked to speak with the manager, which I did over the phone, and he basically said well sorry, this is the way it is. He told me there was a "glitch" in their system that gave me the $40 rate, and that they have had this problem before. Then my husband went in and asked to speak with the owner. The owner basically said the same thing, but when my husband pushed, he offered us a discounted rate (3 times what we were originally quoted). Of course we weren't willing to pay that, thinking it was a "bait and switch" maneuver. So we left. I want to add that driving to the RV park through the city was an absolute nightmare! We are in a 35 feet long class A motorhome plus a tow vehicle. It seemed like we had only a few inches in the lane on each side of the motorhome. And people are extremely rude, pulling out in front of us, almost backing into us, etc....

Perfect spot for exploring NYC! It was so great being able to stay in our home on the road while being a few steps from this amazing city. Our electric and water hookups were great & we felt safe the entire time, even at night. The short walk to the PATH station made it super easy to access any part of the city. We will absolutely be back if ever in the area!

Great location! It’s hard or impossible to find another RV park as conveniently located in the NYC area! The prices are high though, so be prepared! The campground is a parking lot, so manage your expectations. My biggest complaint is the lack of dump stations at each location. They boast of 2 dump stations on site, but in reality when the one is used it pretty much blocks access to the second one. The place has decent security and feels quite safe. Now here’s a word to the wise: follow the welcome packet’s directions upon leaving. Your GPS can very quickly get yourself in trouble in this crazy city!

An awesome place! It's a parking lot so definitely has to be your expectation...we had our own accommodations so I can't speak on the bathrooms and I didn't use the laundry services...Water and electric hook ups but no sewer...there is a dump station conveniently located! Check in was easy and the lady at the front desk was so nice and accommodating...she even switched our spot from what I booked online to one she thought we would fit better! She gave us a welcome packet and gave great advice on public transportation into NYC! The location was amazing, quiet, and safe...less than a mile drive to liberty state park for the ferry to ellis island and the statue of liberty! Able to walk about 5 blocks for the subway (grove station) that goes directly to the world trade center...overall a great stay and the location can't be beat!
