Overview

Likely Place Golf Course and Resort offers a unique high-desert retreat located in the quiet corner of Modoc County. Spanning over 500 acres, this destination combines the serenity of a remote landscape with the leisure of a championship 18-hole golf course. It serves as a peaceful basecamp for travelers exploring the rugged beauty of Northeastern California. The resort provides a relaxed atmosphere where the pace slows down, allowing guests to enjoy vast open spaces, fresh mountain air, and a break from the frantic energy of city life.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the small community of Likely, CA, the resort is framed by the stunning Warner Mountains and the South Fork of the Pit River. This location is characterized by its high-altitude environment and proximity to the Modoc National Forest. Visitors will find themselves surrounded by sagebrush, juniper trees, and expansive meadows. The geographic isolation of the park is a major draw, and the lack of light pollution makes it an exceptional spot for viewing the Milky Way and heavy stargazing on clear nights.

The RV park is designed with spacious sites that include 50-amp full hookups to accommodate modern rigs of all sizes. Beyond the pristine golf course, guests have access to a putting green, a clubhouse with a cafe, and reliable laundry facilities. The park is well-regarded for its big-rig friendly pull-through sites and well-maintained walking trails that meander through the property. These paths offer plenty of room for exercise or walking pets while enjoying the natural scenery and resident wildlife.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to explore nearby, from fishing in the Pit River to bird watching at the Ash Creek Wildlife Area. A short drive leads into the Modoc National Forest, offering miles of hiking and mountain biking trails through pine-covered peaks. For a taste of local culture, the town of Alturas provides historical sites and small-town shopping. The region is also famous for its wildlife viewing, where mule deer, antelope, and diverse bird species are frequently spotted throughout the resort grounds.

This resort is ideal for active retirees and golfers who appreciate the convenience of stepping straight from their RV onto the fairway. We stayed here in a travel trailer. Full hookups are available. Many pull-throughs. 55 spots, restrooms, showers, laundry, tent camping, BBQ area, dump station and of course, golf. For once, the park is located far from road noise and trains. It's very quiet and they are a dark sky park. Verizon cell service is good. Staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant in the clubhouse. They have a nature trail around the park and helpful suggestions about local sights.

Serene, beautiful setting for camping. Excellent golf course - greens in good shape; it's not crowded - and the views!

This is an RV park with large enough spots that have a picnic table and some grass. Pros: terrific golf course. Great for stargazing except during full moon. Dark sky certified except they leave on large parking lot lights. There is Absolutely no shade. It was 98-100 degrees. There's no dog park on the 520 acres. The mosquitoes eat you alive. There's no food service Closed due to lack of help) even with the nice patio. Not Likely to return.

Horrible experience. Customer service awful. Booked reservation months in advance with 3 other motor homes and requested sites together. We were assigned a space with posts on both sides and a tree. We were unable to fit our 36 foot motorhome into the site. Even if we had been able to maneuver our way in the slides would not open. We were told yes many rigs could not fit in this site. We were then given a choice of two other sites in a different section of the park away from our group. One was a lovely site down by the creek but it was swarming with mosquitoes so we ended up in the last alternate which was a gravel parking lot After spending two of the four nights we had booked we checked out. No refunds! There were two nice grassy sites up with our friends that were still unused. Why were we in a gravel parking lot??.
