Lindenwood Park
Overview
Lindenwood Park serves as one of the most prominent recreational escapes within the city of Fargo, North Dakota. Managed by the Fargo Park District, this wooded municipal park offers a scenic campground experience that feels worlds away from the urban bustle. It provides a peaceful atmosphere for travelers who appreciate the shade of mature trees and the gentle sounds of the nearby river. It is a favored destination for both regional visitors and cross-country RVers looking for a high-quality city-run facility.
Location & Surroundings
Nestled along the banks of the Red River of the North, the park’s location is its greatest asset. While it is conveniently situated near the heart of South Fargo, the thick canopy of trees creates a secluded, natural environment. A unique pedestrian bridge connects the park to Moorhead, Minnesota, allowing for easy exploration across state lines. The surrounding area is characterized by lush green spaces and access to a massive network of scenic riverside trails that highlight the beauty of the Red River Valley.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground consists of 47 sites, many of which provide 30 and 50 amp electrical hookups to accommodate modern RVs. On-site facilities include clean restrooms, hot showers, and a convenient dump station for guests. For recreation, visitors can take advantage of bicycle rentals to explore the miles of paved paths winding through the forest. Families often enjoy the multiple large playgrounds and picnic shelters, while the fire rings at each site provide a classic camping experience under the North Dakota sky.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Beyond the park boundaries, guests are just a short drive from the cultural highlights of the Fargo-Moorhead area. Sports fans can visit the Roger Maris Museum, while history buffs will appreciate the Hjemkomst Center, which houses a replica Viking ship and a stave church. Downtown Fargo offers a vibrant mix of local eateries, boutique shopping, and the iconic Fargo Theatre. The park’s central location makes it an ideal base for exploring both nature and the city’s unique local charm.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for active families and cyclists who want to stay close to urban conveniences without sacrificing a natural setting. It appeals strongly to travelers seeking a quiet, well-maintained stopover with easy access to miles of paved walking and biking paths. Because of its heavy tree cover and riverside location, it is a perfect match for those who prefer shade and a more traditional park aesthetic compared to wide-open concrete RV resorts.

Absolutely beautiful park. Red river winds thru. Flower gardens are stunning. Roger Maris history if baseball fan. Showers and bath house clean. A little noisy from playground and big bingo event. 5 big rigs couldn't figure out how to park and left. Seemed inexperienced.

This is a great campground right next to the Red River. The space is a bit uneven, but once you get your camper leveled, it's great! Cool breeze, beautiful views of the river, lots of family time! I will definitely camp here again!

Very beautiful place, we stayed in the RV and the RV park is just a portion of this park embedded in a city on the river with amazing views. The young man in the office was great, smiling and helpful, thanks for the sticker. Everything you need is here. They have baseball fields.

Our fresh tank sensor stopped working and we ran our of water. Lindenwood Park Campground graciously allowed us to fill up The campground is right on the river.Plenty of open space. And it is near the biggest playground I have ever seen. Next time in MN we are staying there.

We camped here for 2 nights in June 2025 and it was safe and convenient. The park staff was helpful and kind. Hot showers in a modern bathhouse. There was trash and broken glass in our campsite when we arrived and the freeway noise is loud. We will stay again when we visit Fargo. The bike rentals were a hoot and reasonably priced.
