This is a small and quiet Park. The Camping area is very small with generally small campsites. The aren't many activities with only one hiking traile open during our visit. Glad we went but doubt we will return... there ate other "better" FL State Parks.

Beautiful little campground. Just right for weekend getaway. The showers and bathrooms are extremely clean. This is the most handicap accessible park I've been to.. even kayaking and canoe launch has a great place for people in need of help to get in!

This park is all about being the REAL Florida as far as what it would have looked like before people came in and bulldozed it all away and built homes and stripmalls and parkinglots. Yep, this is what it all used to look like in this area at least. Well, minus the little bit of roads and a couple of small buildings for bathrooms and a nice small boat/kayak/canoe landing area, which I must admit is pretty nice. It was a schorcher of a day, with temps in the mid to upper 90's, I'm sure with the humidity it probably pushed the misery (heat) index well over 100. Not the best day for a walk on trails that have very little in the way of tree canopy cover, but there was some that offered a little relief though. I saw two gopher tortoise while here and a Lubber grasshopper as well as a miriad of anole lizards, almost 100% Bahamian dudes and ladies. No gators in sight at the Little Manatee River. Just a few water bugs to see there. It was pretty full and was running at a pretty good clip and of course looked just like brewed tea as far as the color of the water with all the tannen's in it from the fallen leaves and other things. My son and my grandson and I only saw one other visitor the entire time we were there, so it's scarcely over run with people. And it was a Friday afternoon from 2:45pm until about 5:30pm.

Had the best experience staying here for five nights, early June. The spots are VERY private, so much so that it made the spots feel extra HOT. We didn't mind though since privacy isn't something you always get when camping. The campground was quiet and had a few nice surprises, such as laundry, a dump site and very clean & large stall restroom/showers. Lots of really neat paths all around and the playground and ampitheter was a nice treat for my daughter. Would definitely come again, but probably not mid-summer, ha!

Stopped by for the day 5/17, extremely hot by 10/11am 92 degrees! Some mosquitoes out but not a lot. Saw one deer, no other wild life, 2.5 mile trail we did from the all trails app. You will park over by equestrian parking.

We love taking our toddler here to have fun and burn some energy. Super beautiful and a vast park. They recently had a horse show and we enjoyed it quite a bit.

Day trip to this park to check it out for future camping. Great trails... bathrooms were clean (at least the ones we went into). AWESOME canoe/kayak launch. Perfectly set up for someone that is handicapped, also - I was extremely impressed! The person at the ranger station when we entered the park was super friendly!! This was on February 7th of 2025. I will update once we have a camping experience here.

We spent one night at Little Manatee River State Park. It was inexpensive and easy to book. One night including full Hookups with power and water was $37.00. This state park also has equestrian camp sites and plenty of trails for horseback riding. There’s ample tables and covered areas for picnicking. Grills are available and firewood is also available for purchase at the ranger station if needed. The campground had clean bathrooms and washer/ dryer was also available for about $2.50 per load. The shower had a bit of trouble getting hot water in the women’s room, but my husband reported there was plenty of hot water in the men’s shower room. Little Manatee River State park was a very quiet and peaceful place to camp. We highly recommend a stop here if you’re in the Sun City/ Tampa area of Florida.

This is by far my favorite Florida state park I’ve been to. The trails having trees that tower over you and a very dense forest. I loved the different trails available and how diverse the area was. The pavilions were large and there were several picnic areas. There was also an area for equestrians, rv campers, and canoeing/kayaking. One of the trails was closed but it’s all the reason more for me to come again haha! We also were able to bring our dog along to explore with us! Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for beautiful trails and nice views.

A welcome natural respite in an area experiencing unfettered development. Kayaking (with rentals at the Canoe Outpost) is my favorite way to experience the park. My daughter and I saw so much wildlife: Alligators, turtles, bald eagles, red shoulder hawk, herons, egrets, cardinal, catfish, and so much more! The trails in the park are well marked and a map is available at the entrance.
