Little Ocmulgee
Overview
Little Ocmulgee State Park & Lodge offers a unique retreat tucked away in the sandhills of South Georgia. Known for its peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty, this destination provides a perfect blend of outdoor recreation and comfortable facilities. The park is centered around a private lake and is home to the renowned Wallace Adams Golf Course, making it a favorite destination for travelers who enjoy a mix of sport and quiet nature.
Location & Surroundings
Located near McRae-Helena, GA, the park sits within a distinct landscape characterized by rolling sandhills and towering longleaf pines. Unlike many other parts of the state, this area features white sand and scrub oaks that create a serene, coastal-like aesthetic despite being located well inland. The centerpiece of the property is the 256-acre Little Ocmulgee Lake, which provides a calm backdrop for various waterfront activities and sunset views.
Amenities & Park Features
RVers will find well-maintained campsites that include full hookups with sewer connections at select sites, while others offer standard water and electricity. The park is highly convenient for those who prefer not to cook every meal, as it features an on-site lodge with a full-service restaurant. Families often enjoy the seasonal splash pad and large playground, while the modern bathhouses and laundry facilities ensure a comfortable stay for long-term travelers or weekend visitors alike.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw for many visitors is the 18-hole golf course, which is frequently cited as one of the best values in the state. Beyond the greens, guests can explore the Oak Ridge Trail to view local wildlife or spend an afternoon fishing from the boardwalks. The park's diverse ecosystem offers excellent opportunities for birdwatching and nature photography, particularly during the migration seasons when the lake attracts various aquatic species.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an ideal choice for golfing enthusiasts who want the convenience of staying just steps from the fairway. It also appeals strongly to families seeking a safe, quiet environment with plenty of space for children to roam. Because of its location in South Georgia, it serves as an excellent scenic stopover for travelers moving between the northern states and Florida who prefer a natural setting over a standard roadside park.

Have stayed here a couple times before. Pleasant, easy stay in a nice park (especially when lake is up) on our frequent trips between TN & FL. All around one of the best parks we’ve ever stayed at (and we were full-time for over 2 years). Good mix of sites and amenities but the best staff ever! I had a health incident while there this week and our camp hosts (Hal & Joyce) went way above and beyond to get me the care I needed. They also worked to rearrange sites so we could stay longer based on my recovery. It was a rough time and they were “Johnny on the spot”! They stayed in touch until we got home in TN. Now going to be long-term friends. God bless them and I encourage you to stay at LOSP!

We are new to Georgia and decided to visit the Park for the weekend and do some fishing. We booked online and there was no notice or mention of the Lake being closed. Drove the two hours and checked in on a Friday evening and the next morning went to the Lake expecting to see what is shown on the website. Very disappointed that this message about the Lake being closed in not shown on the website where you actually book your room. They do have the notice on their Facebook page but I don't check Facebook when booking a reservation. After our stay, I got an email that requested we leave a favorable review on Google or Facebook. The email also said if your expectations were not met to call a phone number listed in the email. I called that number and all they said was that they were sorry - which I appreciate but doesn't change the fact that there is no mention of the Lake being closed and drained on the website where you make reservations. They should make people aware when they are booking a room, that the Lake has no water.

I live close to an hour away from Little Ocmulgee State Park. When I want to decompress and get away from the world for a while, this is where I go. Close to home. You forget your worries swinging lakeside. I had the chance to decorate for a corporate event there this month. The team at Little Ocmulgee were the best at making it easy for me to install the balloon decor and work with my schedule. My Carried Away Creations balloons do travel! I have stayed overnight before in a lodge room. It was clean and felt like home. Can't wait for my next excursion up there!

Just a quick stop on the way from GA to FL. Nice, clean park. Very nice golf course with a few players. Quite a few families at the splash pad. We chose to walk the 1.7 mile short loop. Nice walk with quite a few signs denoting different trees, plants, and wildlife. Just watch out for the jara spiders with webs crossing the path every few feet!

This campground is one of my new favorite places for camping. Mickey and Phyllis are great campground hosts who are friendly, hard-working and a pleasure to get recommendations from. The bathrooms are clean, well-stocked and modern, with strong pressure and long lasting hot water. The campsites are spacious and level, and the laundry facilities were well maintained with a good working washer and dryer. The golf course is walking distance from the campground, which my husband and I enjoyed, plus we were able to grab a delicious dinner at Mulligans, which is at the lodge. The lake is pretty, the free mini golf was fun to play in the evening, and the two mile nature trail was enjoyable as well! I highly recommend a stay at this wonderful gem!
