Lizard Creek is an amazing, small, quiet & safe campground- perfect place for families. As a seasonal, I would love to keep this gem a secret. I really like they abide by their rules, specifically keeping out large, rowdy groups. As a seasonal for 4 years (2 years with the new owners), we have never had any issues besides those who lack camping etiquette, common decency or unrealistic demands which I am glad were VERY quick to shut down. Lizard Creek is run very well and they cater to their crowds. Most weekends during the summer/fall, they have food trucks on Fridays, free events for kids during adult swim, group events where other campgrounds come participate. I am really surprised by reviews where it's said they don't have events because sometimes, I feel like there are a lot of events to keep track myself. Lizard Creek advertises their events so unless you aren't researching prior to booking, I'm not sure why there are complaints on events. The owners and staff have been nothing but amazing, accommodating and friendly. They have A LOT of patience and are direct which I really like. They nip issues as soon as it starts and that is the reason why Lizard Creek is what it is- safe and fun environment for all. I trust my kids are safe even with a completely full campground. The owners, staff, campers and guests are what makes LC great. The trails and stream are lovely. Enjoy wildflowers, wildlife and beauty while escaping the real world.

Unfortunately, due to the confusing and unwelcoming way this campground is managed, we will not be returning. I contacted Jennifer (the owner) 9 months in advance about hosting our family’s annual cousins camping trip (25 people). From the start, she expressed concerns that a group of our size would “intimidate” other campers and repeatedly emphasized their strict limit of 12 people per site. After I accepted her opinion and moved on with my search, SHE reached out to me explaining she is willing to accommodate us after all because the weekend will be slow. Even after she agreed to host our group, every conversation was filled with warnings, conditions, and “rules” that made us feel more like a problem than paying guests. Upon arrival, check-in was rocky. One cousin was again warned about being kicked out if we broke the 12-person rule. I asked to speak with the owner before everyone arrived, but was told she would be in “business meetings all day.” The pavilion we had reserved months in advance wasn’t set up as promised — the grill was missing, signs weren’t posted, and when I asked about it, staff told me to contact the owner (still unavailable). We also had issues with faulty electrical hookups, no hot water in one cabin, and no maintenance staff on-site to fix them. Solutions offered were to move campsites or cabins, not repair the problems. When I finally saw Jennifer, she told me we couldn’t use the pavilion fire pit because of a burn ban and also claimed I hadn’t paid for the pavilion — even though I had. Hours later, after losing most of our first day, her husband eventually confirmed my payment and dropped off a grill. By that point, it was frustrating and exhausting. Throughout the weekend, the owners’ behavior only made things worse. They patrolled our sites late at night, which felt intrusive and unsettling. Other guests wandered into the pavilion to use our things because the promised signs weren’t hung — I was simply handed tape and told to do it myself. Firewood deliveries were extremely slow (over 90 minutes) and often shorted; when corrected, it required extra verification against their own policies. The staffing was clearly inadequate, with most requests brushed off because “the owners were in meetings.” While the pavilion itself was nice and my family enjoyed time together, it was overshadowed by the constant sense that we were being watched, judged, and managed rather than welcomed. Simple things — like being friendly, accommodating, or responsive — were missing. In the end, the environment felt narcissistic, disorganized, and lacking empathy. Between strict and uneven enforcement of rules, maintenance issues, unavailable staff, and an owner more interested in “business meetings” than guests, it was a disappointing experience. We take our family trip seriously and always respect the places we stay, but this was by far the most unwelcoming campground we’ve visited. Sadly, we will not return. And as a final note, don’t be fooled by the many 5-star reviews — guests are rewarded with free ice cream for posting them. Also, the husband is amazing. Kind, welcoming, helpful. Owners are 2 polar opposites.

Wonderful cheerful check in person Kayla, readily providing info and resources throughout the weekend. However, the rest of the experience was unpleasant, unnecessary, and unlike any previous camping experience. My husband and I came to enjoy a weekend with our family, and although we enjoyed each others company, it was difficult to do so in an environment where your made to walk on eggshells. The female owner was harsh in tone with communication with staff, adults, and children. We were made to feel like we were on overwatch as she was looking for something to throw our group out. On several instances members of our group were questioned if we paid for something, that was already paid for. My family were respectful of her plethora of rules but it seemed like they just kept coming. Thorough communication regarding our group were made months in advance, including several talking down to us as if we were kids about gatherings of more then 12. Given the purpose of our group coming was to spend time together as a family, you would think a family owned and operated business would be accommodating. But in order to get together we had to rent the pavilion, and were then glared out and told to lower our volume, as the owner was taking business meetings on the deck next to the pavilion. We came from out of state and have friends who knew of the campground under previous management, however this was not what it was like before. We will not be returning. The bath house was nice though, even had a lock for extra security.

We were camping! Brought our own beds! Were welcomed and escorted to our site, they helped with getting positioned on the site, very level site, made easy set up! Camp ground was very quiet, clean and relaxing and the pool was great. Did a day trip to Jim Thorpe, from the camp ground! Loved that there were NOT golf carts cruising the campground all day❤️❤️

We love everything about this campground! We found it haphazardly when we had a sporting event in the area and stayed there because it was close, but we loved it so much that we just recently went back which honestly we don’t do very often because we don’t find campgrounds that check so many boxes for us. I can also say that our second visit was equally as pleasant as our initial first visit. This family puts so much work into all of the probably million things that go into running a place like this. The check-in office and camp store is clean and well stocked - they even have food and ice cream and on some weekends food trucks and a ton of really adorable events. It’s also very quiet - the sites are laid out so that some are close to one another, but some are tucked into more private areas which is not easy to find in many campgrounds. They also keep the grounds very nice. The grass is always short and common areas clean, and there’s really nothing ever in disrepair that I have found. People are just very nice there. The seasonal and weekend campers - Everyone is just respectful and quiet and it’s just very enjoyable. Just an overall great experience each time. And as a double bonus, there’s a lot to do in the area!!…great biking and hiking and walking trails - you have a river for kayaking tubing, and canoeing and a great farmers market all within 10 to 20 minutes of this campground. This time we even found a local sunflower festival with live music, food, crafts- the works! 10/10, five stars, and giant kudos!
