We completed our annual trip and once again had a great experience. The friendly and helpful staff are one of the reasons we continue to go back. A little piece of peacefulness and fresh air.

In 2008 we rented the three cabins on the water and rented 2 boat slips in the “marina”. We have just left today after 6 nights and seven days in Cabins Edgewater and Cedar. Also rented 2 boat slips in the “marina”. The cabins were so dirty with cobwebs, dust and debris on the floors, especially the bedrooms. Spiders of all kinds everywhere in and outside of the cabins. I understand outside, but the inside could easily be cleaned after every guest. Mouse droppings in the kitchen drawers and in the stoves. Beds were very old and uncomfortable. Mice seen in both cabins during our stay. It’s easy to see that in the 17 years since we were last here, nothing has been improved upon. The boats slip docks are old and rotted wood. The entrance into the “marina” is narrow with rocks on each sides. The swimming beach has what appears to be gray water from campers/ trailers above the lakeside. I would not even put my feet in. Pets should not be allowed in the water. Several dogs were in the water while our children were playing. The setting is absolutely beautiful on the lake from these cabins but staying in them is horrible. Invest in your property and you would get a better review.

Very well maintained campground. The cabins are 100+ years old, and show it. Quaint and clean, but they are original. The campground goes quiet at 10, which was awesome. The public bathrooms were the roughest. They were fairly clean, but not in great shape, and you have to walk through another lot to get to them.

My family recently booked campsites at this campground, as we have enjoyed visiting for many years. Unfortunately, the forecast is now calling for rain throughout the entire weekend of our trip. Since we are tent camping, we decided it would be best not to proceed with our plans in those conditions. We completely understand that campgrounds need cancellation policies, but we were disappointed to learn that the 50% deposit we paid—despite booking less than 30 days in advance—is entirely non-refundable. While a flat-rate or smaller non-refundable portion would be more reasonable, losing the full amount feels excessive. In the end, it feels like we simply donated the money. This experience has left us reconsidering future visits, which is unfortunate given our long history with this campground.

My friends and I stayed in “Beech” over the weekend, and while it’s a nice property on the water, we had a major mice incident that leads me to leave this review. On the first night, we saw two mice and assumed it was a fluke, so we tried to ignore it. (We understand that older cabins like this can be very rustic.) However, after returning from our hike on the second day, we saw 5–6 mice, including one crawling right above our bed. We even saw one exit through a hole near the fireplace. In addition to the mice, our room had a strong smell of urine, which we now suspect may have been related to the mice. At that point, my friends and I decided to leave the cabin around 1am and had to pay for a last-minute hotel in Mackinaw City. While we were compensated for half of our stay, the owner declined my request for a full refund, stating that the mice “came in from the storm” and that “if we would’ve come to the office, they could’ve solved it.” However, when we left for our hike on Saturday at 2 p.m., the office wasn’t open, and at that point, we hadn’t seen the majority of the mice yet. Additionally, the number of mice we saw strongly suggests there was a nest inside the cabin, not just a few that came in from the storm. While I do think this is a nice property overall, I would recommend confirming that this issue has been fully resolved before booking.

In 65 years, I've never visited the UP. We'll, now I have. I wanted a log cabin, and I found one. It was rustic, the decor was fifties grandpa's cottage, but everything worked and we were twenty steps from the lake. It's a place that I'll visit again.

Beautiful place to camp with great campsites. We camped in the wooded area on a pull-through site, great location. The people were so friendly, we will go back!

Super friendly and accommodating staff. Beautiful location. Traveling alone for work I got their smallest and cheapest cabins described as a tent with walls. With a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, TV, and queen size bed. Will definitely stay here again next season.

The staff is really friendly! We stayed Labor Day weekend in cabin Elm, the cabin was small but very nice for the price. It was a hot weekend and no AC was not a problem, there was fan provided and lots of windows. My family enjoyed the beach and the playground. Most people are gone sightseeing during the day and the park is super quite. The mattresses in the cabin could’ve been better, but like I said the price was fair. The last day I was there the staff went above and beyond as I had a nail in my tire. They called down to tire shop in Curtis and got me right in. We’ll be coming back.

We stayed in a cabin. Marge and the staff were very friendly and helpful! The campground was very nice. Beautiful view of Big Manistee Lake and the beach was fun. The cabin was kind of rustic, sheets and blankets were provided, along with dishes and cookware, but you always have to bring a lot more than that. We've been to the U.P. several times and knew what to bring to make our stay comfortable. Had a really great time with our family and appreciated our stay there!

The scamp store really wasn't that big and didn't have anything but other than that everything else was really mice. The water was good and the boats were nice. The beach was small but you had a lot of water to mess around with. You had trails to either ride bikes or take a walk. It is right down the road from dollar general too which is nice.

The folks running the camp ground are very nice ! The views are amazing !! the views are amazing ! oh did I say that twice? :) some tree work could make views from cabin better though. Fishing isn't bad in 2019 we took home a cooler full of Walleye, catching our limit everyday! This year the Walleye eluded us! but the Perch were our buddies year 2021! Spent 2 days on their Pontoon great fun wondering around the lake looking for fish and swimming. The cabin however was much to be desired :/ we didn't spend much time inside, but plan on bringing your own, non stick pans, towels including Kitchen towels or rags, extra blankets and t paper are a good bet too ! Dogwood is where we stayed this year but should be called the wasp house 🤷‍♀️ lots of them : / floor feels as if it is going to fall into the ground, but like I said we didn't spend much time inside so it didn't effect our stay much :) We do like Log Cabin resort Campground many good memories made ❤
